Delivering quality education is the primary objective of Mr. Shahbuddin Ahmed

Our Senior Correspondent Sruti Ghosal spoke to Mr. Shahbuddin Ahmed who has been a member with LearnPick for the last 5 years. He shared his views on imparting quality education through new age technology.

1. What are the 5 tips that you would like to suggest to those appearing for GATE?

Shahbuddin Ahmed: GATE is an extremely important examination for those who want to pursue M. Tech or want to work in the Public Sector Enterprises like GAIL, Indian Oil etc. In order to crack Gate, firstly, the student has to develop the basic concepts. Secondly, the student should keep revising those concepts thoroughly. Thirdly, the student should take up sectional or practice test. Lastly, the student should appear for Mock tests which will enhance his/her understanding. But above all, a student should always possess a positive attitude and indulge in self-assessment.

2. You often use latest technologies to make your classes interesting? How effective is this method in imparting education?

Shahbuddin Ahmed: Today technology has simplified learning. It has benefited us in various ways. For example if I want to explain the atomic structure or the chemical bonding to my students, I can explain it better visually than just reading out from the text book. If I can show them a 3D figure with the help of a projector, it will make the topic more interesting and easy to remember. E-learning is also another aspect which is gaining popularity in India. There are many websites which provide e-learning solutions. When we have access to technology, we should utilize it to the fullest.

3. With Indian education inclining towards western one what is the role of home assignments and mock tests in today’s educational scenario?

Shahbuddin Ahmed: In a day, a student attends various classes and comes across various mind-boggling terms, which are difficult to remember. But assignment makes it easier to remember the lessons. Assignment is a form of practice and practice is an essential tool in remembering what has been taught in the class. The assignment should also be reviewed by the teacher so that the student is able to assess his potentials.

4. You are planning to come up with a tutorial center. So tell us something about this institute?

Shahbuddin Ahmed: I have more than 15 years’ experience in this profession. But one thing which I have noticed is that, students lack quality education. There are numerous institutes and tutorial centers in Kolkata, most of which are extremely professional. But my objective is to spread true and quality education to enhance the basic concept of students. My upcoming tutorial center will have three segments viz; classroom section, e-learning unit where students can access my teaching materials globally and third will be correspondence courses. I am planning to build this institute within a year’s time.

5. What are the techniques that you often adopt in your classroom to make Science subjects more appealing to students?

Shahbuddin Ahmed: Students have a notion that Science subjects are the toughest ones and most of the time they are weary of it. But I think Science is the most interesting subject and provides a lot of scope for scoring well. In order to score well in any examination, a good grasp over Mathematics is essential. To make Science subjects more interesting, I always try to provide examples from our surroundings. That’s how I try to inculcate the realization and objective of studying Science. I don’t encourage studying just for the sake of scoring marks.

6. How has LearnPick helped with your tutoring experience?
