  1. Energy
  2. Energy is mainly classified into 1. POTENTIAL energy 2. KINETIC energy POTENTIAL energy is the energy possessed by an object due to its position Eg gravitational potential energy ' Energy of a stretched or compressed spring
  3. Kinetic energy- energy possessed due to the motion of a body Eg moving cycle Rolling ball
  4. ' Potential energy can be converted into kinetic e n e rgy Eg -a stone falling from a height Kinetic energy can be converted into potential e n e rgy Eg — a stone upward from ground.when it is thrown it has velocity ,hence kinetic energy At the highest position its velocity/speed becomes zero. So kinetic energy is zero but potential energy has value
  5. Energy can also be classified by its SOURCE types 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Chemical energy: this can be released in chemcal reactions eg-battery Electrical energy: this comes from the motion of electrons Mechanical energy: e.g. from the winding of a spring used in certain time clocks Sound energy: a pulse of energy that comes from vibrating object Nuclear energy: this can be released from the nucleus of an atom during fission or fusion reactions Solar energy: heat, light and radio waves are radiated from the sun at enormous speed
  6. The progress of humankind has been very closely related to the discovery of new sources of energy energy and ways they could be used' List in sequence the main sources of energy used by humans since the time of cave men until the Present day
  7. List some ways our lives would be different if we were to run out of an important energy source like oil. ' How can we overcome such a crisis?
  8. SOURCES AND RECEIVERS When an object gives out energy, the object is classified as an ENERGY SOURCE. Eg-Our Sun When energy is taken up by an object and used (transferred or transformed) it is classified an ENERGY RECEIVER. Eg- Electric bulb
  9. N/A
  10. SOURCE TRANSFER RECEIVER kettle of water
  11. Heat is a form of energy Why heat is called an energy?
  12. Other forms of energy can be converted into heat l. CHEMICAL ENERGY 2. ELECTRICAL ENERGY 3. MECHANICAL ENERGY 4. NUCLEARENERGY 5 SOLARENERGY
  13. ' convection currents — Earth Processes e.g-, sea breeze & Land breeze ' Convection current is a cause of tectonic plate movements under earth's surface ' tectonic plate. noun. the two sub-layers of the earth's crust (lithosphere) that move, float, and sometimes fracture and whose interaction causes continental drift, earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, and oceanic trenches.

  15. ' radiant heat can be reflected just like other parts of the Electromagnetic Spectrum. ' use reflective foil insulation in houses and mirrored surfaces ' use reflective mirrored surfaces in the Thermos flask to minimize heat escape from the flask.
  16. 1. 2. 3. 4. What is the main classification of energy? How energy can be classified according to sources? What are energy sources and recievers? Give examples where you see convection process on earth processes
