  1. Buildings, paintings and BOOKS IRON PILLAR 7.21 m height Built by Chandragupta Il about 1500 years ago. Present in mehrauli, Delhi Stupas- mound Relic casket, which is box structured was used to build stupas which contained bodily remains of Buddha or his followers or things they used, precious coins and stones. The layer of mud brick or baked brick was added on top and then the dome like structure was covered with carved stones. The stupas were laid with paths around them. The path called as pradakshina patha was used by devotees who walked in clockwise direction. The path is connected to gateways. Many shrines were built to worship deities Shiva, Vishnu and Durga. These deities sculpture were kept in holy places garbhagriha. Temples and stupas were built carefully and was funded by kings and queens, garland makers, traders, farmers, devotees and many others. We can see many paintings in Ajanta caves. The stories that were told were written and preserved which told about stories about deities and how to worship them. These stories were called puranas. The epic purana is Mahabharata- Veda vyasa Ramayana- Valmiki Many stories were written by common people and poems were sang, danced, performed plays. This were also preserved in the form of Panchatantras and Jatakas. Aryabhata was also of this time He found out the formula for circumference of the circle. He was an astronomer He composed the book Aryabhatiyam. He gave scientific reason for eclipse. He also told that the days and nights are because of the rotation of the earth around sun. Same time paper was invented in china by Cai Lun about 1900 years ago.
