For getting good score in CAT, you need to build an enriched vocabulary and you need to be quick in solving aptitude questions. For this, Word Power Made Easy would be quite useful. You should practice a lot of aptitude questions from R.S Agarwal books. Get the correspondance material from TIME Institute. Solve it completely. Revise a lot. Your success is guaranteed. :-)

You need to have good understanding of basic mathematics topics such as Time, Speed and Distance, Time and work, Averages, Profit Loss and partnerships, clocks etc. You need to learn how to use correct grammar in English. All these things you might be knowing previously, but you need to check how is your knowledge level as compared to CAT level. 

Logical reasoning and Data interpretation are 2 most important topics of CAT, you need to brush them up too.

To prepare for CAT,  you need to first clear your basics of mathematics and English grammar till class twelve. 

Then you need brush up and training for short cut tricks etc. 

This will take hardly three to four months. 

Take mock tests to judge yourself.

To prepare for CAT, you should have at least 300 hours kept aside for preparation.   1. Need to have through understanding of the basic concepts in Mathematics, Statistics. Should know how to apply it smartly in less time consuming manner which require practice. 2. Need to develop an Analytical Mind 3. Should keep udated about the current affairs.
