Hey shruti, only IDP offers the option of selecting the speaking dates. You should select your speaking date just 2 or 3 days later to ur LWR . Otherwise mant date options are available on the idp site , you can select any of them according to your time and efficiency. But don't delay it for so many days , my suggestion.

IELTS is easier

Gmat/GRE tests your analytical and reasoning skills. Gmat is mostly for over seas management studies and Gre is for masters and PhD studies. IELTS (universally accepted),TOEFL (mainly for USA) are language tests which is primarily required along with Gmat,Gre. There are few management colleges in Canada,Ireland, Australia which are accepting only IELTS score-band 7.5.

Both are same. Both need preparation. Some universities prefer TOEFL, others prefer IELTS. So it's not just easy or difficult but your need. If your English is good, 1 or 1.5 month practice is sufficient. If it's very good, then 15 to 20 days is enough. Otherwise, many months are required.

There are 4 sections in ielts general test. Reading, listening, writing and speaking. In Reading there are questions like-true/false/not given, giving heading to each paragraph in the passage,direct location based questions from the passage, match the following. In Listening, audio will be played. You need to be an active listener and simultaneously mark correct answers to the questions on the question booklet. Writing comprises a letter and am essay that one needs to write. Speaking will be a one on one session with the panelist lasting for 10-15 minutes.

You need to score maximum in Reading and listening to boost your overall band. Writing and speaking are subjective. Hence, it depends on the evaluator giving marks. Aim for below scores to get a band 8: Reading -band 8 Listening -band 8.5 Writing -band 7 Speaking -band 7.5 Speaking should be practiced well with the tutor as it is a one on one formal chat with the panelist. Writing tasks should be evaluated by the trainer/tutor regularly giving detailed feedback to improve its score.

Read editorial page of Times of India and write the gist of the entire article in short on your own. This will help increasing your reading speed and boosting your understanding level. This will not only improve vocabulary but also improve your reading speed/accuracy in Reading section. Additionally you can read online magoosh vocabulary lists. It's important that the vocabulary word applied in the sentence should not change the sentence meaning and should sound grammatically correct. Also, get your basic grammar rules/concepts clear. Avoid sentence construction /punctuation error. Don't use unnecessary conjunction to join sentences. End the sentence where you can putting a full stop. Read online British and American business news to improve your vocabulary.
