I believe that conceptual understanding is of utmost importance not only from a knowledge but also an a exam perspective. My approach to teaching is to divide the monstrous syllabus into small portions and help the students to understand and reproduce the answers themselves. Since, I myself have given a fair share of exams and that too recently, I think I have the advantage in explaining to students what is required of them in an answer and how to interpret questions rather than a rote technique.
