• Question: Describe how copper pyrites can be extracted.

Posted in: Physics | Date: 16/05/2019

Depending upon the nature of the ore the method of extraction is to be employed.  Chalcopyrite aka Copper pyrites is the most common ore of copper and usually contain a low fraction of copper. So they have to be concentrated first before refining. Concentration is done by froth floatation method.

Post that the concentrated ore is heated strongly in the presence of Oxygen and Silicon Dioxide. This results in the reduction of Copper ions from +2 to +1 state along with the formation of Iron(II) silicate which is to be removed as slag.

Also, the sulfur present in the ore is converted into sulfur dioxide gas(which is further used in Contact Process)

Finally, we copper(I) is converted to blister copper with the help of a blast of air.

The purity of the obtained Copper is around 98 - 99.5%

• Question: What is Conditioned Reflex?

Posted in: Biology | Date: 16/05/2019

A conditioned reflex is different than innate reflex. The neurons in the brain have to be trained for such reflexes which can be caused due to change in environment or belief system of a person. • Question: What is osmotic pressure?

Posted in: Biology | Date: 16/05/2019

Imagine u have a container consisting of a solution and you want to try no to allow the selected solute particles in it to pass.

So if you put a semipermeable membrane in that container, the apparent pressure it will be operated upon which it prevents or minimizes the inward flow of water or selected solutes present in the solution

This pressure is known as Osmotic pressure which is directly proportional to the Molarity and Van't Hoff factor.

• Question: What is the difference between antiseptic and disinfectant?

Posted in: Biology | Date: 16/05/2019

Antiseptics and Disinfectants consist of alcohol as the root molecule but the concentration of it varies drastically. For example, if the alcohol percentage is very high then it will make the solution harmful towards humans and cannot be used directly externally. Whereas the Antiseptics are made of less alcohol and other chemicals which makes it usable for us externally.

Due to this variable compositon, their usage and effects differentiate immensely.
