  • Question: What is Remote Server Management?

Posted in: Networking | Date: 18/03/2017

    Answer:

In enterprises that need a secure environment; servers and desktops are usually managed remotely. Administration is hardly performed by logging on to the local console. Remote management or administration is not a new notion, and is used largely to manage servers and desktops. Windows Server 2003 includes a few technologies which can be used for the administration of remote client computers, and to remotely manage servers. These include: Microsoft Management Console snap-ins can be used to connect to a remote system and manage the remote system. Web Interface for Remote Administration can be used to manage a server through a Web browser on a remote computer. Remote Desktop For Administration: The Terminal Services service enables Remote Desktop For Administration and Remote Assistance. The Terminal Services service is automatically installed on Windows Server 2003, and can be set up to support Remote Desktop For Administration. Through Remote Desktop For Administration, Terminal Services can be used as a management tool. Two simultaneous remote connections are possible. Remote Assistance: The Remote Assistance feature enables a client or user to request assistance from another user, normally an administrator or technician who is referred to as an expert. The expert is able to connect to the user's computer and view and control the user's desktop, to provide assistance is solving the user's issue.

  • Question: Why should I learn Remote Server Management?

Posted in: Networking | Date: 18/03/2017

    Answer:

As an IT administrator, lab, or network manager, you need to access and control multiple computer systems. You have routine maintenance, requirements for troubleshooting and even real-time monitoring needs. With that in mind, your remote server management tools must enable you to work quickly and securely to access any system regardless of type, brand or location. Software-based remote access systems – RDP, VNC Computer embedded service processors – iLO, DRAC, RSA Out-of-band KVM-over-IP switches – Raritan Dominion KX2 While these categories describe how the tool itself is physically deployed, it’s critical to understand the real advantages and limitations of the tools in each category. There are four critical criteria points when it comes to your remote server management tools. Consider this: Reliability – Will my remote access and control work when I need it most? Security – Is my remote access and control tool safe from hackers and cyber-attack? Manageability – Is my remote access and control tool easy to manage and maintain? Power – Can I access and control all of my devices wherever they are and perform my day-to-day tasks? Remember, your data center platform will only continue to evolve. Your environment will take on new workloads, additional VMs, and new infrastructure components. Through it all, it’s critical to be able to control this environment and management whenever needed, whether remote or onsite.

  • Question: Why should I learn Remote Infrastructure?

Posted in: Networking | Date: 18/03/2017

    Answer:

The following are more of the benefits you can expect when you deploy RIM: 1) You can access individualized services depending on your specific requirements. This means that you can choose what you outsource and what remains on-site. 2) The cost to outsource maintenance is lower than keeping a separate IT department for that purpose. 3) Vendors for RIM can provide tech support around the clock and usually have dedicated teams assigned to each account. 4) Service providers often perform infrastructure analysis as part of their offerings. This can help you identify and eliminate issues in your current infrastructure, improving performance and optimizing for success. 5) You will have access to patch management and upgrades as needed. 6) Because there is less dependency on internal IT resources, both system availability and uptime improve. RIM service providers have relationships with multiple service providers, ensuring that there is constant server uptime as well as network redundancy. 7) The latest technologies available will be part of your ongoing network system strategy.
