• ## Question: What will be the focal length of a lens whose power is given as + 2.0 D?

Posted in: Physics | Date: 14/04/2017

Given power (P) = +2D --> lens is biconvex lens focal length (f) = 1/P => f = 1/2D => F = 0.5m Or, f = 50 cm So the lens is biconvex with focal length 50 cm.

• ## Question: What are the chemically identifying tests for unsaturated hydrocarbons?

Posted in: Chemistry | Date: 17/04/2017

Unsaturated hydrocarbons are mainly identified by two unsaturation tests - 1. Bromine water test - If an unsaturated hydrocarbon is added to bromine water, then it decolourises bromine water, that is, the brown colour of bromine water vanishes. This is due to addition of Br2 across multiple bond of unsaturated alkene. 2. Baeyer's test - When an unsaturated hydrocarbon is added to cold alkaline KMnO4 solution, then there is decolourisation of KMnO4 solution. This is also an addition reaction across multiple bond. Saturated hydrocarbons do not give any of the above tests.

• ## Question: Which unsaturated compound doesn't give unsaturation tests?

Posted in: Chemistry | Date: 17/04/2017

Benzene (C6H6)
