The most common problem encountered with a mechanical fuel pump is clogging due to cotton waste, dirt or some such foreign matter in the fuel. It can be prevented by cleaning the filter before the suction of the pump regularly.
A submarine has ballast tanks. These are filled with water and the additional load of water makes the submarine to sink. When the submarine wants to surface, compressed air is used to force out the water in the ballast tanks. The submarine becomes lighter and it comes to surface.
In 1861 Nikolaus Otto invented Otto Cycle for petrol engines and a few years later he invented the same for diesel enginees. This is the basic 4 stroke cycle used by automobiles till date.

Hydroelectric Power has no running cost since here power is generated from free flowing water from a river whereas Coal has to be mined and transported over large distances to the Thermal Power Plant. Petroleum is a costly and imported item and hence generated power becomes very costly. While hydro-electric power does not cause pollution, coal and Petroleum do.

Consumer goods are for direct use by the consumers. Examples: an apple bought from a shop for direct consumption, a TV or a shirt.
Producer goods are like inputs to processes which make a consumer good. Example: The same apple when purchased by a manufacturer of bottled apple juice becomes a producer goods. Other examples are machineries for production etc.
1 gm-mole of nitrogen is 28 grams. Therefore 7 gms of nitrogen is 7/28 gm-mole or 0.25 gm-mole
As per Avogardo's Law number of atoms in 1 mole of any substance = 6 x 10 to the power -23.
Therefore no of atoms in 7 gms of nitrogen = 6 x 0.25 x 10 to the power -23.

Substances exist in 3 states: Solid, Liquid and Gas
Melting point is the temperature at which a solid substance changes state to liquid.
Example: Melting Point of ice is 0 C
Dry ice is the solid form of Carbon di-oxide.
Carbon di-oxide becomes solid at around -78C, without becoming liquid first. This process is called sublimation.
As temperature goes up dry ice gives out white fumes and goes back to gaseous state without passing through the liquid state.
This property of Carbon di-oxide is used in films and drama stages to produce copious white fumes.
Cotton is good conductor of heat.
The heat of the sun which falls on our body gets dissipated easily to the atmosphere if we wear cotton and we feel cool.
Synthetic clothes trap this heat and makes us uncomfortable.
The products of combustion of dry wood gives out gases which cause atmospheric pollution
Otto cycle is a standard cycle for spark ignition engine. It has 4 stages namely Isentropic compression, Constant Volume heat addition, Isentropic expansion and Constant volume heat rejection.
The trouble or hindrance in developing wind power and power from water flow is that such plants can not be set up anywhere. For setting up wind power turbines we have to look for places where steady and strong wind currents are available. For setting up water flow based power plants or hydro-electric power plants we have to look for rivers on which a dam can be built across two mountains between which it flows and then a penstock may be constructed at a considerable length at a much lower level.
Many wind power turbines have been built in the Thirnelveli district of Tamilnadu.
Nirogen is an inert gas. Unlike oxygen it does not oxidize and affect the quality of fruit packed in plastic bags.
The reaction is Ca + 2 H2O = 2 Ca(OH)2 + H2.
Hydrogen is liberated. The byproduct is slaked lime.
The reaction involved is Ca + H2O = Ca(OH)2 + H2
The hissing sound comes from Hydrogen which is liberated during the chemical reaction for the slaking of lime process.
Ca +2H2O = Ca(OH)2 + H2

It has been realised that all organizations make use of exactly the same resources to manufacture similar products. All resources except the human resources, which varies from organization to organization. For example all companies producing cars make use of the same raw material like steel, glass and plastic but yet the products turn out to be vastly different in quality, reliability and generate different levels of customer satisfaction. There are many companies in the IT sector who all process "information" using perhaps the same type of computers and softwares but yet they earn different levels of customer loyalty and hence profit. The secret has been traced to the way the successful companies make use of their human capital. If a company can keep its people motivated and trained, the human capital produces very high rate of return by ensuring delivery of sustained value for the Clients. The benefits in investing in human resources are many times more than the cost involved for doing so and is reflected in the good will that the Company earns over a long period of time as successful companies who invest in their human capitals like Tata, Infosys and Apple or others have learnt over the years.
The question perhaps means 'How does the price of related goods influence the demand for a commodity?'
Since we are talking about a commodity and not about a special item which is only supplied by one particular supplier, when the price of related goods fall, people will buy those alternative commodites and the demand for our commodity will fall. Accordingly its price would also fall. Conversely when the price of related goods rise, the demand for our commodity will rise in the short term, as our commodity remains cheaper. In due course the price of our commodity will also rise as the demand for it goes up and up.
Oxygenated blood is sent to all partsof the body from heart through Arteries and then through its branches

A family income is first spent on a few essential expenditures like food, clothing, house rent, children's education etc. What is left of the income after that is called the 'consumer surplus'. A family then thinks of buying other commodities with this consumer surplus. If the income of the family increases, this consumer surplus also increases and there is more money available to the family for buying other goods. Hence the demand for these goods increases. Conversely, when there is decrease in the family income, the consumers' surplus also reduces and there is less money available for buying non-essential commodities. Therefore the demand for these goods fall.
A democratically elected government is more accountable to the public because it comes to power due the majority of the public voted for it. The government is apprehensive that the same public may not vote it to power next time if it does not fulfil their expectations.
With the existing level of scientific knowledge we can not predict where an earthquake will strike next or when. Therefore we cannot be forewarned about it. The only way open to us is to cope up with its aftermath. We can at best reduce its harmful consequences by making buildings and structures in the earthquake-prone areas of lightweight material so that they cause less damages and they can be soon reconstructed cheaply. We can also take certain engineering factors while designing buildings in the earthquake prone areas like Japan does and take earthquake on our stride rather than blaming God for it every time. The other thing we can do is Emergency Preparedness. We can have a small team to rush to the spot quickly with the essential medicines and supplies who can provide relief and bring down the severity of an earthquake in terms of the human impact.

MANY NON-METALS LIKE WATER ARE LIQUID AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. A METAL THAT IS LIQUID AT ROOM TEMPERATURE IS MERCURY.
Darwin's theory of natural selection which talked about a common ancestor to all living beings was questioned as it was too radical a theory for the contemporary thinking. But as more and more scientific and visual evidences were discovered, scientists got round to accepting it. However the religious bodies continued to opposed to it as it went against the faith that a God created the world and all forms of life.
Boiling Point is the temperature at which an item changes phase from liquid to gaseous at a given pressure. For example the boiling point for water is 100C under normal atmospheric pressure.
An electric motor is a device to convert Electrical Energy to Mechanical Energy.

1. Latent Heat of Vapourization or evaporation
2. Latent Heat of Fusion
If we go on heating water, the temperature will increase. The temperature will stop rising after reaching 100C. However if we keep on heating the water it will change state and will become vapour or "steam". The temperature will remain 100C. Where does the heat go then? The heat goes in providing the Latent Heat of vaporization so that water at 100 C can become steam at 100C. This heat required for enabling change of state from liquid to gaseous is called the latent heat of vapourization.
Every one is advised to make some savings against a temporary set back in life like loss of a steady source of income or a sudden unplanned expenditure coming up for a familly. Saving is good. In fact the government encourages savings because the government can plan some investments on social welfare or industrialization using these sums saved by the people with banks.
However hoarding is bad. Unscrupulous businessmen and traders hide some stocks like rice or cement that they deal with and create an artificial shortage in the market. The price goes up due to the artificial shortage and the traders make windfall profits. Government discourages hoarding and some times raids the unscrupulous hoarders to put the hoarded stocks back in to the market for the benefit of the public so that the price comes down.

According to the techtonic theory, Himalayas were formed due to the collision of the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate many million years ago.
Ice at 273K will first require about 80 calories of heat per gram to become water at 273K. This heat will be taken out from the body to be cooled. Then the Sensible Heat will be taken out by water at 273 K from the body to be cooled further. Therefore ice at 273K is more effective in cooling a body than water at 273K

Stainless Steel does not rust like its main constituent iron
The main constituents of a common variety of Stainless Steel is 18% Chromium, 8% Nickel and the rest iron.
Lime stone is Calcium Carbonate. It breaks up to CaO and CO2 inside blast furnace. CaO combines with the impurities in the ore like SiO2 and produces Calcium Silicate. This is called slag, floats on top of the iron and is tapped out.
Hot air blast fed to the blast furnace combines with Carbon and produces CO2. This CO2 combines with hot carbon to produce Carbon Monoxide. Carbon monoxide reduces the ore, Fe2O3 to Iron, Fe which collects at the bottom of the furnace and is tapped out.
It is the angle of incidence for a ray of light going from a rarer medium to a denser medium when the angle of refraction is 90 degrees. If the angle of incidence is more than the critical angle, there is total internal reflection.
If the angle of incidence is greater than the critical angle there will be total internal reflection.

Carbon di-oxide causes global warming by trapping sunlight and making the earth warmer. Global warming causes devastating natural disasters like flooding of low lying areas, melting polar caps of ice etc. CO affects human beings and ultimately causes death. But the scale of calamity caused by CO2 is much more and hence CO2 is considered much more dangerous.

There are quite a few reasons:
1. There is no land mass after Indonesia, Malaysia till this area in Andhra hence a lot of moisture collects in the air
2. There are no high mountains in the coastal area to arrest and dissipate wind movements
3. Monsoon season comes twice in a year
Liberalization means reducing restrictions by a country to import and export of goods and services.
1. Sole Proprietorship - owned by one person
2 Partnership- owned by a few individuals
3. Private Limited Company- owned by share holders with limited liability
India won independence as a result of a number of Geo-political factors prevailing simultaneously at that time:
1. The Labour Party had come to Power in England under Richard Attlee defeating Winston Churchill of the Conservative party which had been in favour of continuing with the government of overseas Colonies like India
2. It was because of America that England and Allies could win the Second World War and America was against continuation of foreign dominions by UK. Hence these had to be dismantled one by one.
3. In India political awareness was building up and people were clamouring for their say in the Government. An armed struggle was being organized by Netaji Subhas Bose.

Breaking of monsoon means when the regular monsoon starts at a place. Before that there are pre-monsoon showers.
Right ventricle of the heart pumps blood to pulmonary artery. From there it comes back to lungs getting deoxygenated. Lungs purifies or oxygenates the blood. Oxygenated blood is received at the left atrium of the heart.
Thyroxine is an important hormone secreted by Thyroid gland. It flows to liver and kidneys. Too little or too much secretion of thyroxine can affect metabolism in different ways.
In a Capitalist Economy the entrepreneurs are free to choose what they want to produce. They choose to produce some thing which gives them the maximum profit.
From the beginning of the civilisation rivers play an important role in the economy of a country. It provides water for cultivation. It provides a means for transportation of the produce of agriculture and bringing back other economic goods to the agriculturists. Now a days many industrial units like Thermal Power Plants which need a lot of water are also located near rivers.
Positive Tropism means movement towards the stimulus like a plant styles its foliage towards sunlight. Negative tropism means movement away from the stimulus. There are other tropism like geotropism and thigmatropism.
In 2011 The United Nations defined countries with Gross National Income per capita less than $ 4036 as Developing Countries. At the same time it is at pains to state that this definition in no way casts any aspersions on these countries! The GNI for India for the period 2006 to 2010 was $5240 and for the period 2011 to 2015 it is $5630. Hence strictly speaking India is coming out of the definition for Deloping countries.
But the figures for USA for the same periods were $5400 and $55860! So you get the idea.
General Insurance is payable in case of loss of insured property due to fire, earthquake, flood and the like.

It is a good step. There is a huge transformation taking place in the field of consumer behaviour in India. Customers are increasingly making purchases on-line rather than going out for shopping physically. This has resulted in a new demand for a supply chain to reach the product from manufacturer/stockist to the consumer calling for a reliable supply chain. In case a customer does not like the product he can return it. That entails an equally reliable Reverse Supply Chain.
Supply Chain Management also thrives in the field of Industrial raw material and other goods. Many times the customer wants to know on real time basis what exactly is the current location of the raw material he had ordered and when will he get it. An efficient SCM system can answer this query immediately and satisfy the customer.

Two forces keep the planets in their orbits. The Centrifugal (away from the centre) force generated by the motion of the planets tries to pull them away from the Sun and the Gravitational force exerted by the Sun tries to pull the planets towards it.
Paper Industry uses plants and small trees as raw material for making paper. It is required to grow trees to compensate for this act against ecology by planting trees. Certain areas lose their forest cover due to natural reasons like soil erosion, cyclones etc. The government takes mitigatory action towards restituion of forest cover by planting trees. These actions are called forest replenishment.
When there is a cut some where in our body, blood flow out. However there is an immediate preventive mechanism in our bodies to stop loss of blood. Blood platelets form a close-knit layer and arrests flow of blood. Blood coagulates or solidifies (called clotting) and prevents blood from coming out.
More than 10% of Indian land mass can be said to be prone to land slides. However these areas are mostly in the hills. Hills of North-East from Darjeeling-Sikkim to Arunachal and further east are prone to land slides and so are some of the hills under Shivalik, Uttarakhand in the Western Himalayas etc are prone to land slide.
4 types of deposit accounts can be opened in banks. Savings, Fixed Time, Recurring and Current Account.
An Economy which permits participation by both Private Sector and Public Sector is called a mixed economy.
Distribution of goods and services plays a very important role for manufacturers as well as consumers in a country as big as India. Imagine for a moment how a two-wheeler driver gets petrol in a remote area of Orissa. Without a proper and efficient distribtion system put in place by the Oil companies this would be impossible. So it is for other consumer white goods and industrial raw materials and spare parts. On top of that consumers are now purchasing goods using internet or mobile services. These goods have to be reached to the consumer quickly and in some cases returned to the manufacturer/reseller if unaccepted. This is how distribution pf goods and services affects the consumer.
Transport of food from leaves to other parts of a plant is done through phloem and the process is called Translocation.

There are many criteria, but the essential feature of a fair election is when the electorate (or a voter) is able to vote freely and choose a candidate he likes without being subject to any kind of threat or harassment. The constituency should be located at a close distance from the place of his residence, only genuine voters should be able to cast vote, their employers should allow them leave of absence at least for the time required to go to cast their votes and return, the voter should be able to use the NOTA option when he does not like any of the candidates etc etc

Availability of Raw Materials, Manpower, Electricity, Consumer Surplus for generation of demand for economic goods, stable government-its economic and taxation policy, level of education, balance of trade with other countries all these influence economic development of a country
Availability of Raw Materials, Electrical Power, Trained Man-power, well laid out infrastructure for transportation of goods and services, level of education, Consumer surplus for generation of demand for industrial goods and a stable government and its policies-all these influence economic development of a country
Globalisation means world-wide proliferation. These days due to ease and speed with which we can go from one country to another and information can flow from one country and about one country to another, the world has become a very small place and therefore no country can remain isolated or secluded. There are good and bad effects of globalization. The value of currency of one country is also no more decided by the country itself. We enjoy the benefit of a global existance as we can hope to get a job anywhere in the world. But there are some bad influences like the western way of life which forces its way all over the world due to globalisation.

A flat bottomed glass flask containing Ammonia is held in a stand upside down. It has a rubber cork which has two holes. Through one of the holes a glass tube is fitted which connects the flask to a trough containing red litmus solution. The other hole is fitted with a syrringe containing water. As water is injected to the flask through the syringe the ammonia is absorbed by the water and a partial vacuum is created inside the flask To fill up the vacuum, the red litmus solution is sucked into the flask where it turns blue as it comes into contact with un-dissolved ammonia. This experiment proves that ammonia is soluble in water.
The Equatorial areas of the world receive direct sun rays and heat up more than the polar regions which receive slanting rays of the Sun. The air in the equatorial areas become warm, lighter and rises up. Cold air from the polar regions try to fill up the areas of low pressure. This causes wind to blow.
Roasting is heating of certain ores in presence of air to get the parent metal-like HgS on roasting we can get Hg metal.
Calcination is heating of the ore to drive out certain undesirable volatile matters.
General Insurance covers insurance all items from a "bullock cart to a satellite" against all sorts of eventualities. But it does not cover life of individuals. Life Insurance insurers individuals against loss of life and the benefit goes to the next of kin as specified by the Insured.
The 1857 upheaval was localised to a few states only-many states in South and West remained loyal to the British
The upheaval lacked a purpose and a direction. It also lacked an All-India leadership.
The British mobilised a large number of troops from other countries quickly and the Indian Sepoys were no match for them in terms of arms
Solids have fixed shape and size. Gases have no fixed shape and size, but occupies the entire space available. Liquids assume the shape of the vessel in which it is stored. This is because the intermolecular force of attraction is strongest in solids and the elast in gases and in between in case of liquids
The difference between the temperature of the body and that of its sorroundings and the rate of renewal of fresh air are two factors which affect evaporation. The other factors are surface area, the humidity, the property of liquid itself which is being evaporated and vapour pressure

In a monopoly there is only one manufacturer of a particular product in a market place. Hence he can dictate the price.
In a competitive market there are many producers and hence the price is dictated by the universal law of Supply and Demand.
The theory of plate techtonics states that the continents are floating on the outer layer of the earth like slabs of ice on a lake. The continents continuously drift-in other words move. In the ancient times, many many million years ago there was one super continent called Gondwanaland. This super continent broke up and has been moving away from each other and thus the seven continents that we see have been created.

Public sector enterprise is an enterprise or an industry set up by the state government or the central government.
A Private sector enterprise is set up by a private individual (sole proprietor) or may be by a group of private individuals who form a Company for that purpose with limited liabilities.
Banks were established for the sole purpose of dealing with money-for accepting deposits from the general public, pay interest to them and invest money judiciously in shares and other areas to make reasonable profit.
The basic purpose of setting up Post Offices was differnet. It was set up to provide a channel of reliable communication between members of the general public. Post Cards, Inland letters were the vehicles created for this purpose. Over the years people wanted to use this reliable Office to send and receive money from their near and dear ones. Later Post Offices, because of their formidable reach all across the country, were also permitted to accept money from general public and pay interest to them like a financial intermediary.
An actual green house is covered to see that heat is not lost. The earth has started behaving like a large green house as gases like CO2 and to some extent Methane and Nitrous Oxide trap the heat produced by burning fossil fuels etc. As a result the earth is getting heated up. It has been said that a 2degree centigrade in surface temperature of earth will cause catastrphies like melting of the polar cap of ice, inundation of areas near seas and cause devastation.

There was a growing political class of rich men or Bourgeoise who wanted to defy the autocracy and super luxurious ways of the Monarch Louise XIV, who said and believed that "I am the state". After him Louis XV was no better but he could see that France was going to be bankrupt and said "After me the deluge". There were some political and social thinkers like Rousseau who championed the cause of a revolution by statements like "Man was born free but everywhere he is in chains"
Air filtration. Electrostatic precipitation, wet scrubbing are some of the methods use to remove suspended particles from air
Sublimation is a process when a solid directly changes its state from solid to gas without going through the liquid state. Example camphor or dry ice.
Steam has more heat energy than boiling water because it requires Latent Heat of Vapourization for boiling water to change phase from liquid to vapour. Therefore our body comes in contact with more heat when exposed to steam than boiling water. Therefore steam causes more severe burns

French philosphers played a very important role. People were attracted by their pro-democratic and anti-authoritarian sayings.Rousseau pleaded for civil liberties and famously stated that "Man was born free, but every where is in chains". There were others like Voltaire and Montesquieu.
Mirage is an optical illusion. In deserts the sun light heats up the layer of air just above the sand and it becomes thinner. The layers above are comparatively denser and denser. This causes light waves to bend due to refraction. To an observer at a distance a det tree may appear to have an inverted shadow just below it. He concludes that there must be a pool of water in which the tree is getting reflected. This is called mirage. In some rare cases miage can develop on hot and dry weather in highways too.
Water starts boiling at a temperature lower than 100 C in hill stations where the atmospheric pressure is lower than that at the sea level. In other words water at say 90 C will change its state from liquid to vapour if the sorounding pressure is decreased. The reverse is also true as we have seen in case of pressure cookers. Thus pressure affects the state of matter.

USSR was impoverished and food prices were soaring high on account of totally unproductive capital expenditure in space race with USA. Gorbachev the last President tried to experiment with Glasnost and Perestroica (Freedom of speech and Transparency). But it back fired. There was a short-lived Revolution led by his opponents. That fell through because the Army was not with the opponents. States began to declare independence one by one. Later Gorbachev had to declare formation of a losely knit Commonwealth of Independent States in place of the erstwhile USSR.

The main ojective of buying or purchasing is fulfilling some need, desire or want.
Human needs are unlimited but the basic needs are Food, Clothing and Shelter. When we buy food, dress or a place for residence these basic needs are fulfilled. After the basic needs have been fulfilled, higher order needs as per Maslow's Hierarchy comes in to effect and we start buying for servicing those needs.

Total male inhabitants is 60% of 1000 = 600. So total no of females = 1000-600 = 400
Out of the males 20% are literate or 600 x 20/100 = 120 are literate.
Total literates in the village = 25% or 250.
So number of females who are literate = 250-120 =130
So percent of females who are lterate is 130/400 = 33%
Let his cost price be x
He made 4% loss, so his Selling Price must have been x - 4/100 x = 0.96 x
Then he increased selling price by Rs 75 and made 2.5% profit
So 0.96x + 75 = 1.025x
Or 0.065x = 75 In other words x = 75/0.065 = 1153.
On selling at Rs 1200, he makes a profit of (1200-1153)/1153 = 0.04 or 4%
Cost Price of the first I-pod be x. He makes 20% profit. So selling price 960 = (1+0.20)x , which gives x = 800
Cost price of the second I-Pod be y. He makes 4% loss. So 1152 = (1-0.04y) , which gives y = 1152/0.96 = 1200
So combined cost price = 800 + 1200 = 2000. Combined selling price = 960+1152= 2112.
So he makes a Profit of (2112-2000)/2000 = 0.056 Or 5.6%
Since the relative density of ice is given as 0.9 with respect to water, 90% of the ice floats below the water surface and only 10% floats above the surface of water.
In this case therefore only 10% of 5m or 0.5 m of the ice block will float above water. Hence the minimum length of rope required will be 0.5 m to reach the water mathematically speaking... (but certainly you would require a little bit longer rope to tie it up with the bucket and a little bit of rope for holding the free end).
If we define efficiency as the speed of doing work, Seva is more efficient because she takes less time (16 days) to finish the work whereas Ava is less efficient because she takes more time (20 days)
The ratio of their efficiencies is Ava : Seva = 16:20 Or 4:5 You can also say that Seva is 20% more efficient than Ava.
You can also chech the answer by finding that in 1 day Ava does 1/20 of the job whereas in 1 day Seva does 1/16 of the job.
Hence the ratio of efficiencies of Ava/Seva = (1/20)/(1/16) = 16/20 or 4/5
Total age of all the 15 persons is 29 x 15 = 435 years
Total age of two persons is given as 2 x 55 = 110 years
Therefore the total age of the other 13 persons is 435 - 110 = 325 years
Hence the average age of these 13 persons is 325/13 = 25 years
Let the number be x
So 28% of the number should be 0.28 x
Kaveri incorrectly wrote the answer as 82% of x or she wrote 0.82x
The fifference between the actual answer and Kaver's answer = 0.82x - 0.28x = 0.54x
It is given that 0.54x = 540
Therefore x = 540 / 0.54 = 54000/54 = 1000
Hence the number is 1000 and the correct answer should have been 28% of 1000 = 280.
The distance covered in the 4th second = (The distance covered in 4 seconds) - (The distance covered in 3 seconds)
We can use the formula s = ut + 1/2 gt^2 . In this case of free fall, u = 0 and g is given as 10 m/s/s
So our formula becomes s = 5t^2, where t is the elapsed time in seconds
Hence we get distance covered in 4 seconds = 5 x 4^2 = 80 m and
Distance covered in 3 seconds = 5 3^2= 45 m
So the disctance covered in the 4th second = 80-45 = 35 m Ans

As the bolt falls from rest its initial velocity u =0. The distance of fall, s is given as 2.7 m
We use the formula s = ut -1/2 at^2 and get
2.7 = 0xt - 1/2 x 8.6 x t^2
This gives t^2 = 2.7/4.3 =
In this case as the elevator is going upwards with an acceleration of 1.2 m/s/s and the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s/s, the net acceleration on the bolt, a is (9.8-1.2) = 8.6 m/s/s downwards.

Light travels fastest at a speed of c m/s in vauum
It slows down in other denser media depending on the refractive index of the denser media.
In this case we have glass as a dense medium whose refractive index is given as n.
Let vg be the velocity of light through glass. Then vg/c = 1/n. Or vg = c/n
Time of travel through the glass plate of thickness t will be distance / velocity
In this case time taken by light to pass through the plate of glass, tg = t/vg = t/(c/n) = nt/c Ans
Let Cost Price of the 1st article be x. So (91-x)/x = 0.1667. This gives x = 78
Let the C.P. for the 2nd article be y. So (91-y)/y = -0.125. This gives y = 104
Total Cost Price for the two articles is 78 + 104 = Rs 182
He sold the two articles for Rs 91 x 2 = 182. Hence there was no profit or loss in the transaction Ans
Let the money received by Tuhin,Sushant and Rita be 3x,5x and 7x respectively
Given that 7x-5x = Rs 4000. This gives x = 2000
Hence money received by Tuhin = 3x = 3 x 2000 = Rs 6000 and
the money received by Sushant = 5x = 5 x 2000 = Rs 10000
Therefore the total amount received by Tuhin and Sushant together = 6000 + 10000 = Rs 16000

Five years ago the average age of a family of 5 was 27 years
So the current average of the family is 27 + 5 pr 32 years and ther total age of the 5 members = 5 x 32 = 160.
Now the sixth person joins and the average age increases from 32 to 36 for the 6 persons. Total age now = 6 x 36 = 216
Therefore the age of the new member is 216 -160 = 56 years Ans

The bomb can be thought to have a free fall in the vertical direction.
Using the formula v = u + gt , the vertically downward velocity would be 0 + 10 x 10 = 100 m/s
The bomb has a horizontal velocity of 500 m/s, the same as that of the plane
Hence the angle that the resultant velocity that the bomb will have at the moment of striking the ground = tan inverse 100/500 Or tan inverse 0.2. Or 11.31 degrees with the horizontal Ans
Distance = Speed x Time

Initial speed of the truck, u = 30 m/s
Final speed of the truck v = 60 m/s. This speed is attained after 1 miute = 60 s
Applying the firmula v = u + at we get 60 = 30 + a x 60 That gives a = 0.5 m/s/s
Now we apply the formula v^2 = u^2 + 2 xa x s
So 60 x 60 = 30 x 30 + 2 x 0.5 x s
That gives s = Distance travelled in the time interval = 3600 -900 = 2700 m Or 2.7 km Ans
Force = Mass x Acceleration

Newton's First Law of Motion states that every body continues to be in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line until and unless it is compelled to change the state by an external unbalaced force.
The car would have continued to move with an uniform velocity in a straight line but for the force of friction from "the rough horizontal road" surface, which acts upon the car in a direction opposite to its direction of motion.
So the car will slow down and will eventually stop due to the retarding force of friction.

When all the 48 cells of internal resistance 1 ohm each are connected in series and the external resistance of 3 ohm is also connected in series the total resistance would be 48+3 = 51 ohms. The cells when connected in series would be equivalent to a total voltage of 96 V. Hence the current in the circuit would be 96/51 = 1.88 Amps
When all the cells are connected in paralel and the external resistance is also connected in parallel, the equivalent voltage will be 2V and the equivalent resistance would be given by 1/R = 1/1 + 1/1 +....48 terms + 1/3 = 4/3. This would give equivalent resistance R = 3/4 ohms. The current through the circuit would be 2/(3/4) = 2.66 Amp
Therefore I should connect everything in paralel to get maximum current through the external resistance......Ans

First we use the formula v = u + gt
So we get v = 0 + 10 x 4 = 40 m/s
Then we use this v to get the height of the tower, h using the formula v^2 = u^2 + 2 g x h
Or 40^2 = 0 + 2 x 10 x h
This gives h = 1600/20 = 80 m Ans
Here Np = No of turns in Primary = 200
And Ns = No of turns in secondary = 400
We know Np/Ns = Vp/Vs
So 200/400 = 110/Ns Therefore Vs = 2 x 110 = 220 V
Also Vp X Ip = Vs x Is
So 110 x 10 A = 220 x Is. This gives Is = 1100/220 = 5 A Ans

Main constituents of Stainless Steel besides Iron are Chromium and Nickel
Carbon reacts with the iron ore in stages of the Blast Furnace to produce pure Iron and Carbon dioxide. It also acts as a fuel for the blast furnace. Limestone is added as a flux in the process which combines with the impurities like sulphur in the ore and removes them as slag which floats above the molten pure iron
Iron occurs in the nature as Hematite (Fe2O3), which is brownish and is of the best quality having iron content of 70% and Magnetite (Fe3O4) with Iron content 60 to 70%. Hematite is mostly available in Odisha-Jharkhand area whereas Magnetite is available in Karnataka-Andhra area.
Iron does not occur in the nature as pure iron because it readily combines with the oxygen in the air to become Fe2O3 or Fe3O4.
The consequence is Total Internal Reflection, which means that when the angle of incidence is more than the critical angle for the particular denser medium, the ray of light does not come out of the denser medium and gets reflected back inside it.

Traditionally Strategic Metals have been defined as metals required for defence of a country like Antimoy, Beryllium, Cobalt, Gallium, Indium, Magnesium, Niobium, Platinum, Rare Earths, Tantalum and Tungsten but in the current electronic age the list includes Neodymium, dysprosium and terbium which are used to make smart phones, batteries essential for consumer electronic industry also.
The process used in nuclear reactors is called nuclear fission. This takes place when an Uranium atom splits into Neutrons and Protons releasing tremendous heat. This heat is used to boil water to make steam which runs a turbine to produce electric power
There are two forces which keep the Sun and its planets in place.
1. Gravitational Force of attraction works between any two bodies in the universe as per Newton's famous formula:
F = G m1m2/(d)^2, where m1 and m2 are the masses of the two bodies, d is the distance between their centres and G is the Universal Gravitational Constant.
2. The Centrigugal Force created due to the tremendous speed of rotation of the planets.
These two forces create a resultant force which creates an unique orbit for the rotation of each planet. The lighter of the two objects rotates about the heavier object. The sun being 1000 times more massive than the heaviest planet Jupiter (which is 300 000 times more massive than the Earth) all the planets rotate around the sun.

When a ray of light travels from a denser medium like glass to a rarer medium like air "Refraction" takes place. The refracted ray bends away from the normal at the point of incidence and tilts closer to the line of separation between the denser and the rarer medium. If the angle of Incidence is kept on increasing, the refracted ray comes closer and closer to the separation line. When the angle of incidence is at a certain value, the refracted ray just grazes the line of separation between the denser and the rarer medium. If the angle of incidence is increased further, the refracted ray does not come out into the rarer medium at all and gets reflected back into the denser medium. This limiting value of the angle of incidence beyond which therebis total internal reflection is called the Critical Angle for the specific pair of media

Second mason can do 1/30 th of the job in 1 day
So together they do in 1 day 1/20 + 1/30 = 1/12 th of the job
Assume that they had worked together for x days, completed x/12 th part of the job
Second mason in 12 days can do 12 x 1/30 = 2/5 th of the job . So 1- 2/5 = 3/5 th of the job was done jointly

When a train passes an electric pole, it crosses its own length and given that it takes 10 seconds.
When the train crosses a platform it crosses its own length plus the length of the platform and it takes 20 seconds
So clearly the train takes this additional 20-10 = 10 seconds to cross the length of the platform which is 130 m.
So its speed = 130 m in 10 s Or (130/10) x 3600 = 46.8 km/hr
The train takes 10 s to cross the electric pole, which means it takes 10 secons to cross its own length also.
So the length of the train = (46800/3600 ) x 10 = 130 m Ans
Let Prasun travel a distance d in his forward journey at 50 kmph. Time taken by him = d/50
He retuns in such a speed that the average speed for travelling the entire distance 2d is 60 kmph. Time taken = 2d/60.
Therefore time taken for the return journey = (2d/60) - d/50 = d/30 - d/50 = 2d/150
So speed for the retun journey = (d) / ( 2d/150) = 75 kmph Ans
Pipe B and F together can fill in 1 hr (1/10 + 1/15) or 1/6 th of the tank
When the drain pipe M is also open it takes 30 hrs to fill the tank. Let us assume that the pipe M can empty out a full tank in m hrs
So we get when B + F and -M are all working, the tank level is rising (1/6 - 1/m) per hour
Given that in that condition the tank fills up in 30 hrs. So (1/6 - 1/M) = 1/30

The probability of the spotting a defective machine in the first test itself is 2/4 Or 1/2.
The question does not clearly specify if the defective machine was again mixed up with the others before drawing the second lot.
I assume that having found a defective machine no body would again mix it up with the others. In that case we have 3 machines to test and one of them is defective.
So probability of finding a defective machine in the second test is 1/3
Hence the probability of finding a defective maching in the first test AND the probability of finding another defective machine in the second test is 1/2 x 1/3 = 1/6 Ans

Let the train accelerate upto a distance of x m and then decelerate and stop after (1215-x) m
So at point x, velocity v is given by v^2 = 0 + 2 x 1 x x
This velocity is retarded with a deceleration of 3 m/s/s. So 2x = 2 x 3 x (1215-x). This gives x = 911 m
So v^2 = 2 x 911 and that fives v = sqrt 1822 = 43 m/s
Since v = u + at, we get 43 = 0+1 x t pr t = 43 s
now for the decelerating journey 0 = 43- 3 x t Or t = 14 s

North is vertically upwards 10 KM, Coming vertically downwards 6 KM . So 4 KM to North from starting point
Then East is to the right 3 KM
Therefore he is SQRT(3^2 + 4^2) or 5 KM from starting point and direction is northeast
Initial velocity u = 9 due East
Acceleration a = - 2 m/s/s ( minus because acceleration is due West)
So distance covered in 5 seconds = 9 x 5 - 0.5 x 2 x 5 x 5 = 20 meters

From the question
tan 60 = 30/d , where d is the distance between the tower and the building
So 1.732 = 30/d or d = 30/1.732 = 17.3 m
Now tan 45 = h/d, where h is the hiight of the tower above the height of the building

When the object falls through a height of h , its velocity is given by v^2 = 2 x g x h
Hence its KE is 1/2 x m x 2gh = mgh
Given that it loses half of its KE on impact. So it rises with an initial KE of 1/2 mgh
So 1/2 mgh = 1/2 m u^2 where u is the velocity with which it rises. Or u^2 = gh
Now it will rise to a height of say s
So 0 = gh- 2 g x s and that gives s = h/2
This means that the object will rise to half of the height from which it fell after the first fall.
Similarly it will rise to a height of h/4 after the second fall and so on.
so the total distance covered will be h( 1 + 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8+ ....)
In other words the total distance will be h (2) = 2h Correct option is A

Resistance causes difficulty or hinderance to the flow of current from a higher voltage point to a lower voltage point. Resistance depends on
1. The length of the wire
2. The material of the wire, for example silver offers minimum resistance to the flow of current and iron more
3. The temperature of the wire, more the temperature, more is the rsistance, at a very very low temperature some conductors become super-conductors and offer negligible resistance to the flow of current
4. The cross-sectional area of the wire, strangely more the cross-sectional area less the resistance
In lay man's language current is the flow of electricity from a point at a higher potential to a point at lower potential.
Its SI unit is Ampere
D Limbic system
Incident Angle between the normal at the point of incidence = Reflected Angle at the point of incidence
It can be shown by a simple sketch by keeping the incident ray undisturbed and moving the mirror by an angle theta that the angle between the new reflected ray and the original reflected ray is 2 theta
When we stretch a wire, its length increases but its area of cross section also decreases. However the volume of the wire remans constant. If L1 is the initial length L2 is the final length, A1 is the original area of cross section and A2 is the final area of cross section we have L1A1 = L2A2 = V.
We know that the resistance R1 = rho L1/A1 = rho L1 X L1 /L1 X A1 = rho L1^2/V
Similarly R2 = rho L2^2/V
Dividing we get R2/R1 = (L2) ^2 /(L1) ^2 = (1.1 )^2 = 1.21 since L2 is 10 percent longer than L1
So R2 = 1.21 R1 = 1.21 x 10 = 12.1 ohms Ans

The correct answer is Option C
Power is the product of voltage and current or current squared and resistance. Hence in order to incur less loss in Power transmission, it has to be sent with low current and therefore at a high voltage. Therefore it is common practice to transmit it at a very high voltage say 400 KV or even more for a larger part of the distance between the generating plant to the consumers premises and then step it down with the help of a transformer to a usable voltage like 440 V or 220 V for a domestic consumer. However for a large industrial consumer or to the Railways voltave can be as high as 11 KV or 33 KV.
The core of a transformer is laminated to reduce power lossses due to eddy currents. The core is made layer by layer using thin sheets of Ferrite, which is an electrically non-conductive but magnetically conductive material. There are insulating material between the layers of ferrite so that wasteful "Eddy current" can not flow perpendicularly between the ferrite sheets. Eddy currents cause the efficiency of a transformer to drop, heats up the transformer oil and creates a humming sound.
Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction states that the induced e.m.f in a coil is proportional to the negative of the rate of change of magnetic flux. If the coil has n loops, the emf will be n times as large.
Given Power Factor = cos (phi) = 0.5
So (phi) = 60 degrees
The phase difference between the voltage and the current = phi = 60 degrees Ans
The device used for stepping up or stepping down A.C. voltage is called Transformer.
We can draw two perpendiculars to the longer side of the trapezium from the shorter parallel side of the trapezium.
The height of this perpendicular is sqrt(15^2-6^2) = sqrt (21X9) = 3 x root(21)
We now have a rectangle of sides 13 and =3root21 and two triangles of base 6 each and height 3 root21
So the total area is 13 x (3 root21) + 2 x 0.5 x 6 x 3 root 21 = 57 x root 21 = 262.2 sq cm approx
Light travels in a straight line. Hence if the person is not in our line of sight, we can not see him.
Sound waves have the property of bending round objects. so we can hear a person's voice even if he is not in our line of sight
Sexual reproduction is a better mode of reproduction because the offsprings have a better chance of survival having inherited the genetic characteristics of both parents.
There is no change to either the energy or the frequency of light as it enters from air into glass.
Frequency is an inherent property of the light wave so it does not change
Energy = Planks's constant x frequency.
Since frequency does not change and Plank's constant does not change so Energy does not change
At center of mass the net moment is zero. One of the masses is at the origin.
Taking the momemt of the other two we get 500 x 40 + 400 x 70 /(300 + 500 + 400) = 40
So the cntre of mass is at x = 40 Ans

She spent Rs 75 on the sweater. So she should be left with Rs 250-75 = Rs 175
But she actuall has Rs 15.
So she must have spent Rs 175 - Rs 15 = Rs 160 in the jacket. Ans
Coefficient of restitution is the extent to which a body comes back to its original position after a collision with a second body.
Clearly in a perfectly inelastic collision the value of this coefficient is zero as the two bodies merge as one.
And in an elestic collision the value of the coefficient is 1 as the body comes back to the same position from which it started after the impact with a second body
Thus in inlastic collision the value of the coefficient of restitution is anywhere between 0 and 1 as the impacting body does not quite come back to the original position nor it merges with the second body
R can finish the work alone working 12 hous a day in 50 days.
So working 18 hours a day he can finish the work alone in 50 x 18/12 = 100/3 days. Daily he can do 3/100th of the job.
He worked for all 7 days. So he finished 7 x 3/100 = 21/100 of the job.......(1)
Q can finish the job in 25 days working 12 hrs a day. He does 1/25 part of the job in a day . He worked actually for 5 days. So he completed 5 x 1/25 = 1/5 or 20/100 th of the job in the said period..... (2)
So the ratio between work done by Q and R is 20/100 : 21/100 which is actually 20 : 21
So the correct option is C Ans
So in the 7 days period he did 5 x

Let party P get P% votes.
Then party R must have got (P +12)% votes
Total votes is (2P +12)% = 100%
So P = 44% and R = 56%
Given 44% = 132000 Hence 100% = 132000 x 100/44 = 300000
Party R lost by 12% voles or by 12 x 300000/100 = 36000 votes
Let initial petrol price be x which increased to 1.25x.
His petrol consumption be y so his initial expense was xy. He wants to limit this to 1.15 xy
The ratio between initial petrol consumption y and later petrol consumption (Y) has to be such that 1.25xy = 1.15xY
Thus the ratio between Y and y or Y/y = 1.15/1.25 = 0.92
Or he has to limit petrol purchase by (1-0.92) = 8% Ans

There are 6 numbers on a dice.
When 4 dices are thrown at once the number of possibilities is 6^4
Same number appearing means either 1 or 2 or ...6 will come up in each dice. so there are 6 such cases possibilities.
Hence the probability of the same number appearing in all 6 dices id 6/(6^4) = 1/6^3 = 1/216 Ans
The probability of getting either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 when one dice is thrown is 5/6 x 5/6 x 5/6 for 3 dices = 125/216.
This is the probability of getting at lease one 6 when 3 dices are thrown.
Therefore the probability of not getting evn one 6 when 3 dices are thrown is 1-125/216 = 91/216 Ans
We know that the number of numbers which are divisible by among the first 30 natural numbers is 10. (3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27 and 30). So this probability is 10/30............(1)
The number of numbers within this range which are divisible by are 13 and 26. So that probability is 2/30.....(2)
Hence the probability required is 10/30 + 2/30 = 12/30 = 2/5 Ans

Total investment of A, B and C is 64000 + 52000 + 36000 = Rs152000 for equal time periods.
So their share of profit would be proportional to their investment.
A got Rs 35584 for an invetment of 64000 so C would get 35584 x 36000/35584 = Rs 20016.
The correct answer is option E
Probability of getting an even number in one on the first dice is (when you get (2,4 or 6) that is 3 outcomes out of 6 possible outcomes
That is 3/6. Probability of NOT getting an even number id 1-3/6 = 3/6 or 1/2.........................(1)
The pribability of getting a multiple of 3 is when you get 1 or 2 or 4 or 5 on the second dice Or 4/6 = 2/3
So probability of NOT getting the above is 1-2/3 = 1/3.........................................................(2)
Hence the required probability is 1/2 x 1/3 or 1/6.. So correct answer is Option D
We assume g = 10 m/s/s
Now for B going down the equation is s = ut + 1/2 g t^2 Or 130 = 30 t + 5 t^2 Or t^2 + 6t - 26 = 0
Which gives t = -6+- sqrt(36 + 104)/2 = 2.9 sec Ans
The other body A will first go up. It will rise say s m till such time its velocity becomes zero. Or 0 = 30^2 -2 x 10 x s
This gives s = 45m We then have 45 = 30 t -1/2 x 10 x t^2 Or t^2 -6t + 9 = 0 This gives (t-3) x (t-3) = 0 Or t = 3
Therefore this body A will first rise for 3 seconds. By symmetry, it will also for 3 seconds and at that point its velocity will again be 30 m/s
Thereafter it will fall just like body B and will take another 2.9 sec.
So the total time taken by B will be 3 + 3 + 2.9 = 8.9 sec Ans
One way of solving this problem is to realise that if the ball oicked up is neither Red or Green, then it must be Blue.
The probability of picking up a Blue ball out of 7 Blue balls from a box containing 21 balls is 7/21 = 1/3 Ans
Let C alone complete the job in x days.
In one day A can do 1/6 th of the job. B can do 1/8 th of the job and x can do 1/x of the job.
When all of them work together the job is done in 3 days or all of them together 1/3 rd of the jobs
Hence 1/6 +1/8 + 1/x = 1/3
Or 1/x = 1/3 - 1/6 - 1/8 = 1/24
So C can do the job alone in 24 days Ans

Velocity of sound, in m/s in air at T degree C is given by the formula
v = 331 + 0.6 xT. This gives a value of 331 m/s at 0C
So the velocity of sound will be triple or 993 m/s at 331 + 0.6x T
So we get 0.6xT = 993-331 = 662 . From this we get T = 662/0.6 = 1103 degree C Ans

Let the original number be A
1. It becomes 1.4 A when it is increased by 40%
2. Then it becomes 1.4 A x 1.4 or 1.96 A when it is increased again by 40%
3. Now this is decreased by 40%. So it becomes 60% of 1.96A or it becomes 1.96 x 0.6 A = 1.176 A
So it has changed from A to 1.176 A or by (1.176A-A) x 100/A or it has increased by 17.6%

India is a large and basically poor country. People can not afford air travel like America. Bus or even car is a more costly proposition than rail travel. Train provides many classes if comfort is required. By and large trains maintain their schedule. On line reservation is possible. It consumes less energy per capita and hence is a eco-friendly method of transport. For all these reasons people prefer rail transport. For cargo transport also rail provides a dependable and cheaper option than trucks.
For establishment of heavy industries the following are important factors

Sound waves require a medium to propagate. In space there is no medium so the sound can not travel from the source to our ears and we can not hear any Ssound in space.
Sound travels fastest in solids where molecules are packed closely to each other.
Light travels slower in an optically denser medium
Human body undergoes severe pressure when the speed of travel increases. Pilots of air force jets experience Mach 4 or even Mach 5 speeds for short periods of time. That is the highest speed an astronaut can travel. Here G means speed of sound = 340 m/s = 1224 kmph. 2G means 2448 kmph and that is the maximum speed at which the Concord aircraft flew. Whether it is space or atmosphere the human body can not tolerate higher speeds.
Nothing in the Universe can move at a speed greater than that of light which is about 300, 000 km/s
Yes, a sonic boom ( a terrifying sound) is produced when an aircraft crosses the speed of sound and that is all you can hear
Given that B can fill the tank in A + 6 hrs
So in 1 hr A can fill 1/A part of the tank and in 1 hr B can fill 1/(A+6) part of the tank
It is given that when both are open, the tank gets filled in 4 hrs.
Do 1/A + 1/(A+6) = 1/4
Or (A+6+A) / (A) (A+6) = 1/4
Or 8A + 24 = A^2 +6A
Or A^2-2A-24 =0
Or (A-6)(A+4) = 0
So A = 6. The tank can be filled by the pipe A in 6 hrs Ans

There are 4 types of consumer behaviour
1. Impulsive-purchases at the spur of the moment influenced by advertisement or fashion, not much oh planning is involved
2. Routine purchases like every day requirements of essential food items,

1. Transport cost-Sugar cane is a bulky material. Sugar is hardly10% of the weight of sugar cane. So by locating sigar cane mills close to the sugar cane growing areas transportation cost can be minimuzed.
2. Powercost -Electricity can be produced by burning the remnant of the sugar cane after sugar has been extracted. That helps to reduce the running cost of the sugar mills. coal is partially replaced by the bagasse.
3. Labor cost-Labor cost is less in the rural areas and hence it is cheaper to locate a sugar mill in the sugar cane growing areas rather than near big towns.
When more than one force acts on a body, it is possible to deal with them in pairs till they cancel out each other and one force is left out. This force is called the unbalanced force.
When we walk on the street the friction between our feet and the road surface allows us to walk or else we would have fallen like when we try to walk on ice or a very slippery surface with very little friction.
Similarly when we try to write on our copy, the friction between the nib and the papeer enables us to do so otherwise we would been unable to write like we can not write on a plastic paper which has very little friction.
Friction is useful to row a boat in water and other myriad cases
Translatory motion takes place when all the molecules of a body moves along a straight line for a given distance in the direction of the applied force. Example is when you gently push a book lying on top of a desk and the book moves.
We have the following types of motion
1. Translatory or linear motion when all the molecules of a body moves in a straight line by the same distance in the direction of application of the external force like when we swing ourselves on a swing
2 Rotatory motion when all the molecules of a body undergo circular motion by different lengths of arc due to the application of an external force
3 Reciprocatory motion when a body as a whole moves back and forth due to the application of external forces like in case of the piston and cylinder of a locomotive or a car.
When there is an unbalanced force, a body changes its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line and starts to accelerate/decelerate. The body can also change its shape due to the application of an external unbalanced force. The body can also change the direction of its motion when an external unbalaced force is applied on it
When wee stand on a level ground our weight (mg) acts vertically downwards on the surface that we are standing upon. In turn the surface also applies a Reaction force on our body which is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on our body. As a result the forces balance each other and we can stand still. Our Weight and the Reaction from the ground are the examples of balanced forces
Prevention
We can increase the friction of a surface by making it rough by making it uneven.. We can remove all traces of oil or other lubricants from the surface by decreasing with a chemical to increase friction.

A force can change motion in the following ways
1. If a body is in a state of rest the force can make it change that stae to a state of motion
2. Force can act as a retardation and make a moving body to stop
3. A force can make a moving body to change its direction of motion

Distance of Poles from the centre of earth = 3949 miles and Distance of Equator from the centre of the earth is 3963 miles
The formula for gravitational attraction is F is proportional to Mm/(d^2) where M is the mass of the earth and d is the distance of a body m from the centre of earth
Since d is at the denominator in this formula, we can understand that the Gravitational force will be more if d is lower.that is at the Poles

Therefore 45% of his total income is Rs 10080
So 100 % = 10080 x 100/45 = Rs 22400 Ans

Let original mass be M and original velocity be V
So original Kinetic Energy = 0.5MV^2
Then final KE = 0.5 (1.2M) (0.8V)(0K
The ratio between original KE and final KE becomes 0.5MV^2 / 0.5 (1.2M) (0.8V)(0.8V) = 0.768
Hence change in KE = (1-0.768) = 0.232 or 23.2%
Planning horizon is the period for which a plan is made.
For example the planning horizon for an Annual Plan is one year
Let original mass be M and original velocity be V. So the original KE is 0.5 MV^2.....(1)
By the question the final mass is 1.2M and final velocity is 0.8 V
So the final KE is 0.5 x 1.2M x 0.8V x 0.8V...........................................................(2)
the ratio of original KE and final KE = (1)/(2) = 0.768
Therefore the change is 1-0.768 = 0.232 or 23.2%

Tea is a product which sells at a fairly low price of hardly Rs 1000 per kg. Therefor it has to be produced at a low cost to make any profit. That rules out use of costly machines to pluck tea. Plucking two leaves and a bud is a repeatitive and skilled job. Hence use of female labour is suitable for the job

There are 26 black cards in a deck. So the probability of getting a black card is 26/52
Probability of getting a black jack is 2/52
Probability of getting a black card or a jack 26/2 + 2/52 = 28/52 = 7/13
The formula foor the force of attraction between two masses is proportional to m1 x m2/d^2
So if the distance which is in the denominator is halved, the force of gravitational force will be increased by 2^2 or it will be 4 times
The Power of a lens D is defined as the reciprocal of its focal length in meters.
So in this case +3 = 1/f
That gives f = 1/3 meters or 33 cm

Discount is always given on the Marked Price.
If cost price is Rs100, the Marked Price which is given to be 40% over the cost price is Rs140.
Discount at 10% off the Marked price is Rs14
So selling price is 140 minus 14 = Rs 126
Therefore the Profit = Discounted Selling Price minus Cost Price = 126-100 = 26 per cent
As you know the formula for Gravitational Force is mM/d^2
Since the square of distance is in the denominator, then d becomes d/2, the Force will quadruple
An object can have an Eastward velocity while experiencing a Westward acceleration.
Just think you are driving a car towards East on a flat highway. When you have taken your right foot off the accelerator, the car will not accelerate eastward anymore but still it will have a velocity. Now you apply the brakes again with your right foot. What will happen? The car will slowly stop as there will be a decelerration or in other words, an acceleration Westward. So till such time that the car stopped it will be having a velocity Eastword and an Acceleration Westword.
When you are driving during a thunderstorm lighting can not strike your car because of the tyres are of insulating rubber.
However when the aircraft lands or takes off at close to 200 KMPH a lot of static electricity gets generated due to friction between the tyres and the ground. Unless the tyres are made of conducting type of rubber there may be spark and cause a havoc with so much petrol being close by. Hence the tyres of aircraft are made from slightly conducting type of rubber so that the electricity gets quickly grounded.

Weight of a body is a force with which the Earth attracts it towards the centre of the earth.
It is measured in Newtons. It is expressed as W = mg where m is the mass of the body and f is the acceleration due to gravity.
If the body goes to moon the acceleration due to gravity there being about one-sixth of what it is on the Earth, the weight of the body will be one-sixth of its value on the Earth.
The formula for RMS velocity of gas is sqrt(3RT/Mm) where R is the Gas Constant, T is the absolute temperature of the gas and Mm is the molar mass of the gas.
When only T is changed to 4T, keeping all other factors constant, clearly the new RMS velocity will be DOUBLE the initial velocity (since the Abosolute Temperature is within a square root.).
The answer is two signifucant digits.
The rules are
1. Zeros after a decimal point are not significant
2. Zeroes are significant if there is a decimal point in the number
3. If there are no decimal points in the number only the digits are significant not the zeroes
There are the following types of motions
1. Translatory or Linear Motion-Like that of a body which moves in a straight line from position A to position B. Example The Striker of a carrom board or the bullet from a gun.
2. Rotatory Motion-when a body moves in a circle like the blades of a ceiling fan or the hands of a small clock about a fixed axis.
3. Osclllatory Motion- like the piston of the engine of a locomotive which moves in and out of the cylinder
4. Irregular Motion when the body neither moves in a straight line, nor oscillates nor it goes in a circle - like for example when a body moves for some distance in a straight line, then it moves along the arc of a circle, moves to and fro in a straight line it may be said to be executung an Irregular motion.
If a ray of light of monochromatic light is passed through two slits and gets projected on to a screen we see areas of brightness and shade.
This happens due to the interference of light waves. This phenomenon takes place due to the interference of light waves and was first discovered by Thomas Young in 1801.
Time Period of a satellite is independent of the mass of the satellite.
Time Period of both the satellites will be the same
That statement may have been true ages ago when breakdown maintenance was the norm and machines were taken for maintenance only when they broke down. Organizations soon realized that breakdown maintenance led to much higher maintenance cost and much longer machine down time, because often the spare parts were not readily available to replace the broken (literally) item.
Soon organizations introduced periodic or predictive maintenance and then systems are now available to track the condition of various critical parts of the machine on line while the machine is working. This way the spare parts which look like liable to fail are kept ready and the actual down time of the machine is the least.
Waiting for a machine to break down to take it for maintenance is now an outdated concept. So it is ludicrous to make a statement as mentioned.

The disc expands outwards on heating because it faces no resistance thatway. If it tried to move inwards it will attempt to compress itself and there will be resistance to that.
Hookes Law of elasticity states that for small values of stretch (strain) the strain is proportionate to the Force applied. In simple language if you can get a spring which elongates by say 1 mm when you apply a force of 1 Kg, it will elongate by 2 mm if you apply a force of 2 Kg. There are conditions of course.
1. It holds good for small values of stretch. It will not hold good if say you get a strain of 30 mm by applying a Force of say 40 Kg, then it will not elongate by 60 mm if you apply a Force of say 60 Kg - as you may imagine the spring might snap.
2) Now how much force you need to apply for the spring to stretch depends on the spring material and other things and and is called the spring constant.
Let the sides of a square be a meter.
Then its diagonal would be (square root 2)a.
Given that (square root 2)a = 2.5 m
A square with this diagonal as base would have an area of 2a^2
So 2a^2 = 2.5 x 2.5 = 6.25 sq m or we get a^2 = 6.25/2 = 3.125
Therefore we get area of the square = 3.125 sq. m

A teny has two surfaces cylindrical of height 3.5 m and above that conical of height 2.1 m. The slant height comes to sqrt(2.8x2.8 + 2.1x2.1) or 3.5 m
So the total surface area of a tent = (22/7) x 2.8x (2 x 2.8 + 3.5)= 92.4 m2
So the cost to each school = 92.4 x 120 x1500/5 = Rs 3,32,640
Instantaneous acceleration is the derivative of velocity and velocity is the derivative of displacement.

An Inductor stores energy in the form of magnetic field. It is also called a choke or a coil.
A Force is something which can
1. Change the shape of a body-when you apply force on a dough of wheat it changes shape and you can make roti
2. Change the size of a body-when you apply force to a piece of stone it crushes to smaller pieces
3. Change the state of motion of a body-As you know a body can be in a state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line- a force can make it move if it is in a state of rest
or it can make it move faster
or slower if it is already in a state of uniform motion in a straight line
4. Change the direction of motion of a body

hat is a force?
Newton’s First Law of motion defines force.
It says that every body continues to be in its state of rest or in its state of uniform motion in a straight line till such time as an external FORCE starts acting on it. The force
•Causes its velocity to change-either the body moves faster or it slows down, or
•Causes its direction of motion to change, or
•Causes its shape to change-like when we apply force on a dough of flour (atta), its shape changes
Newton’s Second Law of motion helps us to measure this force.
It says that the rate of change of momentum is proportional to the external force.
We know momentum is mass x velocity.
So Force = P= rate of change of momentum = mass x rate of change of velocity = mf
Since rate of change of velocity is also called acceleration
Newton’s Third Law of motion
It simply says that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
When you are standing, you apply a force equal to your mass x acceleration due to gravity on the floor, the floor also exerts an equal and opposite force on you.
The easiest experiment to prove that light travels in a straight line needs only three post cards Make small holes with a pin at the centre of each card. Then light a candle in a dark room, place it on a table safely. Take the help of three helpers (like your brothet/sister/friend/any other person). Draw a straight line on the floor with a scale or a plastic water pipe. Now when the three of your helpers stand on the striaght line with their cards placed at the same height, the last persom away from the candle can see the candle. If there is slightest difference in the level or alignment in the centre of the cards that they are holding, then the candle will not be visible to the last person away from the candle.
