  • Question: why are Si and GaAs preferred materials for solar cells?

Posted in: Physics | Date: 26/10/2015

    Answer:

Si has four electrons in the outer shell of atom, after doping(P and Al) in converts into P-N type semiconductor diode . It is widely used because of its outside shell electron number , Most abundant semiconductor material and It has a bandwidth of 1.1 ev that is very efficient to collect solar radiation .

Ga As is also a Class 3 and class 5 material from periodic table .It has band width of 1.43 ev which is also very efficient to collect solar radiation .

Ga As is more efficient than Si because of its unique property of bouncy back .Apart from normal solar cell working principle, here ,Electrons bounce back from the sun facing bottom plane of the solar cell which add a extra current flow compared to anyother solar cell .

  • Question: In what ways electric and magnetic fields are different?

Posted in: Physics | Date: 26/10/2015

    Answer:

Eletric field and Magnetic field are two different fields with nearly same charecterstics . The coexist in electromagnetic field and propagate in right angle with one another . They are not dependent on each other . They exist separately also . Magnetic field created by a moving electric charges Or it exist around a magnetic pole . But a electric field created around a moving or static electric charges only .

  • Question: what is dry ice?

Posted in: Chemistry | Date: 27/10/2015

    Answer:

Dry ice is a solid form of Carbon dioxide(CO2) .At atmospheric pressure and -78.5 degree celcius carbon dioxide gas sublimates to solid and dry form . Its most common use is to preserve foods .

  • Answer:

Homogeneous mixure is a mixure where each property at any point of the mixure will be identical .

    Example -

If solid salt is added in water . It will reach at the bottom of the water container . After sometime when it will disolve totally it will form homogeneous mixure of salt and water .

If sand particle is added with water . It will reach at the bottom of the water container .It will not mix up uniformly with water . So , this is called heterogeneous mixure .

  • Answer:

Electric voltage difference betwwen two body creats current flow between them .Multiplication of  current and potential difference is called work done by the electric source . Work done per Second is called power . Unit of power i watt or Joule/second.

Any electric device , for examle, a 100 watt, 220 v lamp is indicating that it will consume 100 joule energy per second if connected with 220 volt line.

  • Answer:

A solinoid is a Electric coil  .When current passing through the coil it will generate two magnetic poles jut like a bar magnet . The reason behind this behaviour is that moving electrons in the wire or coil creats a magnetic field around them .

  • Question: What is meant by pH of a solution?

Posted in: Chemistry | Date: 28/10/2015

    Answer:

It is minus logerithm of hydrogen ion concentraion(moles/litter) with base 10 . Its range is 0 to 14 . 0-7 defines acidic solution . 7-14 defines basic solution . 7 is nuetral solution .Less the number the acidic solution is more acidic .

Chemical formula is a way of expressing information about the proportion of atoms constitute a chemical compound using some standard symbols

  • Question: Define the term 'resistivity' of a material.

Posted in: Physics | Date: 28/10/2015

    Answer:

Resistivity is the ability of a material to resist the flow of current . The metal having free electrons in outer shell of its atom is less resistive . Examples of conductive materials having less resistivity are Aluminium , Cupper , Gold etc . Insulatinng materials are infinitely resistive . Examples are plastic , backelyte ,Dry woods etc .

  • Question: Why does acid rain occur?

Posted in: Chemistry | Date: 28/10/2015

    Answer:

Acid rain consist of  Sulphuric acid and Nitric acid caused by reaction of Sulpher dioxide and Nitrogen dioxide with water vapour in the atmospheric air in the presence of sunlight.

  • Answer:

Ionic bond formed between metalic and non metalic atoms , Covalent bond formed between non metalics only .

Ionic compound has high melting point , Covalent compound has lower melting point.

  • Answer:

The diffential gear is a planetory gear arrangement . Two spiral bevel gear rotating through four small bevel gear giving two independent output speed in two wheel .Visualise a ball in between your hand palm , consider one wheel is attached with each of your hand . Now you can rotate both the hand at a same speed and direction by keeping no ralative movement between your hand . You can also change the speed of your two hand by let the ball to rotate at desired speed . That is the way differential work in automobile .

  • Question: Which Mechanism is used in Automobile gearing system ?

Compound gear system that allow to change the gear by shifting the gear shaft to engage with different gear .

  • Answer:

AC- Use air as a medium to transfer heat , air is sucked outside from the room after conditioning both temperature and humidity it is introduced in the room .

Refrigerator - No air is sucked from outside , only temperature of a small space get reduced by direct heat transfer.

  • Answer:

    S1=10, area =100, n=1 S2=10/sqrt 2, area =50, n=2 S3=10/2,area =25, n=3 Similarly 12.5, 6.25,3.125,1.55,.75 so n=8 when area of square becomes less than one.

  • Answer:

Efficiency =1-t2/t1, .4=1-300/t1, so, source temperature, t1=500K, Now 50% increase in efficiency is 40+20=60% .6=300/t3 t3=750. So temperature sources to be increased by750-500=250K.
