Experience | Experience: I don't merely sell tuitions, but my goal is to help develop critical thinking, writing & cross- questioning abilities in the student. I follow a discussion based learning model & teach with wit, humour, & sensitivity to social issues, that trigger excitement & motivation to serve the world. Concepts are taught through analogies & storytelling, references to current affairs. I make sure that the student is motivated, excited to learn, introspecting on their goals and visualizing them to achieve them. I guide in spiritual techniques for manifesting academic goals, that harbour creativity & entrepreneurial spirit. I prefer weekday Skype & weekend in-person classes as I'm in college during weekdays. I am a 3rd Year undergraduate at Ashoka University & am very passionate about the Humanities, particularly Psychology and Political Science. My research interests lie in both these subjects. I had tutored two female students last year who go to government schools and reside at the nearby Gurudwara during the summer the summer, and further on the weekend after college started. Taught them in Hindi, as I always enjoy a challenge.
I interned at Fortis Escorts Hospital, New Delhi for two months in 2015 as a counsellor. As part of Ashoka's Centre for Women's Leadership, I got to attend the highly selective Maledine K Albright Program at Wellesley College, U.S.A in January 2017.
I play guitar, sing, dance (street and funk jazz), practice Buddhism (BSG chanting), meditation and would consider myself a holistic person. I also wish to double as a life coach along with tutoring. I am passionate about empathy and leadership, and hence head a couple of clubs in college, such as Meri Dastan- the Storytelling Club, Atman- the Personal Growth and Spirituality Club, SASH- Students Against Harassment. I have a blog on personal growth and spirituality where I've analyzed and critiques the practices of Brahmakumaris and Nichiren Buddhism, also shared self help recipes and looked at new age philosophy, and analyzed the philosophies of self help authors. Approach | Approach: During school, I was always unhappy with out system of education, and hence I wish to impart holistic education and teach in an experimental creative way while advancing the humanities. • Experiential, discussion based learning using technology, games, movies. Encourage critical thinking and cross- questioning. • Classes, taught with wit, humor, sensitivity to social issues, excitement and motivation to serve the world and contribute towards peace. • Concepts taught through analogies and storytelling. Personal connect with students is established. I will prefer to teach on skype sessions, take doubts via WhatsApp and voice notes because I am in college (in Sonepat) during the week. However, on weekends, I would like to meet the student and touch base with them. I will be able to meet them physically at least twice a month for 2 hours each, and teach them on Skype for 3-5 hours during the week. In total, I should be able to give at least 6 hours a week of time to the student. |
