Answer
business person must understand the business processes and how they work together from one functional area to the other. This knowledge gives the student a much deeper understanding of how a business operates. Using SAP as a tool to learn about ERP systems will require that the people understand the business processes and how they integrate.
Let’s trying discuss with some example:
Suppose, In a business there have 3 departments-accounts, trading and sales. If you want to map your business in ERP(specially SAP),4 module should be there-SAP FI(Finance),SAP CO(controlling-mainly for costing purpose of particular department),SAP MM(Material Management),and SAP SD(sales and distribution). As SAP-ERP is highly integrated software, it can be affected all are the dept’s work simultaneously. If you want to add any extra module apart from these 3 basic module, you can maintain-WM (Warehouse management-to manage your inventory of go down), TM (Transportation Management-to manage your goods dispatch to the customer, regarding delivery schedule, quantity etc.), another module you can able to add SAP HCM(human capital management-specially for manpower, salary and recruitment process).
Most of the SAP modules have mainly 4 segments:
- enterprise structure(Organizational structure)
- Master Record(Basic needs to run your business)
- Determination(linked up between each and every parts of module)
- Process Flow(user level, through this way total business will be execute in each module)
SAP FI module-mainly cover up all the financial part, in FI-Company(parent Company),Company Code(Sister Concern),Business Area(area of business),functional area(whether its mktg, production etc.) uses as enterprise structure, they are mainly dealing with chart of account, account group, and general ledger account working as Master record.
SAP MM Module-mainly cover up all procurement related engagement, in MM-Plant, storage location, and purchasing organization uses as enterprise structure. Vendor, material (raw/trading), info record working as master record. In user level process after configure whole things we have to run procure to pay process. Where product finally procure from the market(supplier)
SAP SD Module-mainly covers up all sales and marketing related engagement, mainly revenue will be generated. In SD-Sales organization(head office),Distribution channel(medium of sales),division(product line/item segment),sales office(branch office) and sales group(sales team) working as enterprise structure.Customer, material (finished),customer-material info record working as master record. In user level process after configure whole things we have to run order to cash process, where product finally dispatch to the final customer.
Like, this is the process, through this SAP ERP can integrated in your business process of organization. But if any body want to learn SAP,he/she have to learn only one module based on his/her domail knowledge(for mgmt./bachelor/BBA can able to learn functional module.for BE/B.Tech/MCA/BCA or any technical fellow can able to learn technical module)
Thank you.
