I earned my Ph.D. in physics from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA in 2018, and M.Sc. in physics from IIT Madras in 2010 with gold medal. Approach:

My tutoring approach is characterized my contextualization of the subject material according to the needs and aptitude of the student. I've never met a single "weak" student in my ten years of teaching career; but I sure have encountered many a regressive method of teaching the ultimate price of which is paid with the career and self-esteem of the student. Our education system suffers from a serious drawback - de-contextualization and abstraction. These two factors make the subject matter seem distant, irrelevant, and uninteresting. It is a fact that human brain works on the basis of need: Unless the brain doesn't think that there is a need for a certain work, it will find ways to avoid doing it. Students learning by rote only to forget everything after the exam is a consequence of this phenomenon. In my experience, to a large degree the lack of focus is also a natural symptom of such regressive teaching methods. No wonder we're now encountering a huge mass of young, perfectly capable students grappling with the material that was considered normal fifty years ago.  I attempt to remedy these problems by contextualizing the subject matter so that each individual student can make sense of the concepts, find it relevant in real life, and pursue it with as much interest and enthusiasm as he would any of his past-time activities. I have used this technique to teach senior school students, and physics and engineering majors in US with very good response. Students respond positively and put in efforts into learning when they find the content relevant and useful and that is what I attempt to do in my sessions.
