Newton’s third law states that for a force applied by an object A on object B, object B exerts back an equal force in magnitude, but opposite in direction. This idea was used by Newton to derive the law of conservation of momentum. It is often stated as: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Law of conservation of momentum, Consider two bodies colliding. momentum before collision of the bodies be PI1, PI2 . after collision PF1, PF2.

Conservation of momentum  PF2+PF1=PI1+PI2

PF2-PI2=-(PF1-PI1)

expression on both sides are change in momentum.,  dP1, dP2

differentiate to obtain,

dp2/dt=-(dp1/dt)

Force on 2 due to 1=  -  Force on 1 due to 2.

This proves Newtons third law of  motion.
