Will it be a good idea to enroll my son into coaching classes from his 6th standard, to prepare him for competitive exams such as the Olympiads, so that he can sit for the JEE later on?

Ask a QuestionThis sounds like sound planning on a parent’s part. Coaching classes can train a student very well for many important exams – such as the Olympiads and the JEE, like you mentioned – and can be greatly instrumental in taking your son to the success he deserves.
Happy to see your attention towards your son's future and more happy to see you are just not concerned but also wanting to take appropriate action with right suggestion and guidance. 6th class is too early a class to enroll in a coaching centre. 6th, 7th, 8th should be totally utilized to inculcate discipline and interest towards a career line. What you can really ensure is that the child gets conceptual clarity on whatver he studies else he will confuse "lack of clarity" with "lack of interest and boredom". Further, from 9th you can encourage him to participate in Olympiads and such level competitions. Children cracking IITJEE are not product of long planning and coachings but conceptual clarity towards subjects and self interest. coachings would make sense only after 9th class or 11th class. I hope the suggestion is useful. All the best!
SELECTION OF COACHING CLASSES IS IMPORTANT AND STUDENT'S INTERESTS AND ABILITIES SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.HOWEVER, COACHING FROM CLASS 6 IS RECOMMENDED AND FROM CLASS 8 IS NECESSARY.
