Software is a set of programs or instructions to run a computer.  There are two types of software   -  Application Software  and  System  Software. An application is software which fulfills a specific need or performs tasks . System software provides a platform for applications to run. 

Other types of software include programming software which provides programming tools software developers need, middleware which sits between system software and applications;  and driver software which operates computer devices and peripherals. 

Today most software is purchased and directly downloaded over the internet. Software can be found on application service provider websites.

To elaborate it I may say Software is also called program. It is a collection of programs to perform various tasks. IT IS group of programs,  routines and symbolic Languages. Software is a set of Computer programs and associated documentation and data. It is the programs and routines for a computer or the program material for an electronic device which make it run. An example of Software is Excel or Windows or iTunes.

Software is a program/computer language that is used by computers and mobile devices. The software helps to build web and mobile applications in Different domains and connect with other different servers to make it fully functional based on the end-user actions. Suppose say I have built an airline web application where customers can book a flight ticket from my website but my Businees or app only helps to book a ticket and I cannot buy flights and make it happen. So, we will have third-party software or servers who is having flights so we get in contact with them and make deals with them to serve the flights on my website. This helps is connecting different providers for one single software to work.
