UPSC is no doubt toughest exam..so initially when you start first go through prelims and mains syllabus take print of them... important subjects in UPSC include geography, history,polity, economy, environment, science technology, ethics,essay, international relations....you should be thorough with each and every respected subject... Books you can refer Geography - ncert 11,12.. Ancient history - ncert 11.. Medieval history- ncert 11.. Modern - spectrum.. Post independence - ncert 12 (politics in India since independence).. Art and culture - nitin singhania.. Polity - laxmikanth, pm bakshi(for articles) Economy - Ramesh Singh.. Environment - Shankar ias.. Science technology- current affairs.. Ethics - lexicon..
