Computer security is one of the most importact aspect of securing servers,  installed s/w, webserver, database sever and networking interfaces. There are many facets to computer security below are few.

1) Secure the computer by installing software updates for vulnerablities fixes. This ensure that your computer running s/w programs are secure.

2) Need user any default password be it a webserver, database or any other user web interface. The hacker may evadrop your computing devices and hack the same.

3) If this is a home computer ensure that anivirus s/w are installed and enabled. This help in detecting and cleaning the device in case any malware are introducted in to the system.

4) Never click on pishing email, other any other website you are not aware of. As these are the sources for injecting cross site scripting and other malacious attack.

5) Never ever disclouse your password of any and keep changing the password one in 60 days and rotate the password.

6) Also formulate a complex password consists of numbers, digits, special char and captialization of char. New use any dictionary word while formulating the device.

7) If the computer has imp info. Need leave it without locking the computer. Also make use of bit locker and other encryption s/w for encrypting your disk drive. So incase the device is thiefed, it will not be restarted and disk data is not misused.

The below two points are applicable only if the computer are netwoked ( may be LAN [Local Area Network], VPN [Virtual Private Network] )

8) If you are using one or more devices and tranmissing data between them make use of TLS (Tranport layer security)  and SSL security protocol.

9) If systems having services are exposed to outside world make use of Firewalls and do port farwarding such that outbound traffic is routed via a firewall route for the opened port. This will help in securing sensitive devices /services exposed to internet or outside world.
