Constitution of India is a must document for Indian society in general & its citizen in particular. No one is above it.

Needs of Indian constitution can be judged on the basis of its importance, which can be summarized as:

  • It provide us sets of fundamental right which is needed to live a free and descent life.

  • It provide set of principles to be fallowed while making any legislation by the legislature. It not only help law makers in framing law but also help us in judging them.

  • Apart from all this it provides mechanism for functioning of executive, legislature, & judiciary. So constitution of India gives power to people of India and it gives judiciary of India to punish those whose action are unconstitutional.

  • India is a federal country in which the functional division of powers between the federal center and federating State units is required, without demarcation of legislative, administrative financial powers, a federal system of polity could not work. Further a constitution governs the organisation and structure of not only Central Government but also of the State Governments. It set out the relation between different organs of Government, like Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. If there was no provisions of Constitution, the smooth and efficient working of democratic process in the country might be jeopardised. So India needs a written constitution.

  • A written constitution avoids confusion and chaos. Parliamentary form of Govt essentially pre-supposes the existence of two or more than two political parties. Thus, a written constitution is extremely essential for a country like ours so that no confusion arises regarding the democratic functioning of the nation.
