What's Your Question?
Answer

In a single phase circuit we have one phase and a neutral terminal. In case of three phase circuits we will have three phase terminals, normally identified with Red , Yellow and Blue colour and a neutral terminal. The voltage on the three phases will have a phase difference of 120 degrees between them.

Answer

Single phase and three phase are two forms of alternating current which involve a sinusoidally varying voltage or current.

The single phase is used in a place where less power is required and for running the small loads. The three phases are used in large industries, factories and in the manufacturing unit where a large amount of power is required.

Answer

Single phase and three phase are just basic supply. If you supply using one phase its a single phase having one live wire and if you supply through three live wires its a three phase. Neutral and Earth being common in both. Supply terminals determine the number of phase. If you choose to use two live wires it will be two phase and so on.
