Nonverbal communication involves the processes of encoding and decoding. Encoding is the act of generating the information such as facial expressions, gestures, and postures. Decoding is the interpretation of information from received sensations from previous experiences.

    WHAT IS NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION ' "nonverbal communication involves those nonverbal stimuli in a communication setting that are generated by both the source [speaker] and his or her use of the environment and that have potential message value for the source or receiver ' Communication not involving the spoken words is referred to as non-verbal communication. ' Non-verbal communication involves sending and receiving messages through gestures, body language, posture, facial expressions, clothing, managing time etc.

Time is also an important factor ' For eg:- Arriving 10 minutes before for a meeting convey the message that the person is organized as opposed to arriving 10 minutes late.

    APPEARANCE It is a very important factor as what a person wears conveys a message about their personality. There are clothes that are appropriate for various types of situations. For eg: During an interview, a well dressed person will look more presentable than the person who is shabbily dressed.

    POSTURES It makes or breaks the communication and shows if the person is interested or disinterested in what is being said. ' One can easily convey their feelings and attitudes through postures. A speaker who leans forward appears to be very interested rather than the one who slouches.

    1, Kinesics: It is a science that deals with the body movements. It includes gestures, facts, expressions, posture, eye movement, appearance etc.they carry a substantial amount of the message. 2, Proxemics: It studies how we communicate through the space around us. We place ourselves at four zones i.e. intimate zone, personal zone, social zone and public zone. 3, Chronemics: It is the science that deals with the perception of time. It is one of the most important parameters from a business perspective. Our perception and attitude towards it is greatly influenced by the culture we belong to.

    4, Paralanguage: As the name suggests paralanguage is something existing on the periphery f language. All oral messages have paralanguage. Elements of language such as voice, speed pitch, pause, volume, stress and tone comprise paralanguage. It is the non- verbal aspect of communication. It refers to the tone in which the message is spoken or written. 5, Chromatics: The use of colour to communicate is not new. Colour is used symbolically in different cultures. For example the colour purple has often been associated with royalty in various cultures. White colour is associated with peace.
