  1. TYPES OF TISSUES A tissue is a group of cells with similar shape and function. There are four types of tissues a) Epithelial tissue b) Connective tissue c) Muscular tissue d) Nerve tissue EPITHELIAL TISSUE: v/ It covers the body surface. v/ Their functions include lining, absorption, secretion and transport. v/ Cells of epithelial tissue have different shapes. v/ They can be thin, flat, cubic or elongated. CONNECTIVE TISSUE: v/ They are most abundant and widely distributed in human body. v/ Connects or separate other tissues. v/ Their functions include support, strength and elasticity. Connective tissue includes fat tissue, dense tissue, ordinary loose tissues etc. MUSCULAR TISSUE: v/ There are three types of muscular tissue smooth, skeletal and cardiac. v/ Smooth and cardiac muscles are involuntary. v/ Skeletal muscles are voluntary.
  2. v/ Their functions include movement. NERVE TISSUE: v/ It is found in brain, spinal chord and peripheral nerves. It is made up of neurons. v/ Nerve cells are strong and string like. v/ It's functions include synthesis, communication and control.
