I come to the first lecture with no assumptions on the level of knowledge of the student. Its only after my first interaction, I plan my lectures accordingly and adjust my pace and the teaching methodology. I always try to relate the new concepts with something the student already knows or has experienced and that way, it gets a lot easier for him/her to grasp the topics. I lay a good foundation of the fundamentals in every subject, so that once we get to the more the complicated topics, I can always relate them back to the fundamentals and how this new concept arrived from there. This way the student is able to get a clear idea of a difficult concept.
