Began career with Hindustan Times, Kolkata. Worked both at the desk and as a reporter. Got exposure in various beats. Moved to Tata Teleservices (Corporate Communications) after securing first division in M.A. (Journalism & Mass Communication) final exams. Joined Intrasoft technologies (123greetings.com) as Creative Analyst after being certified as Multimedia Specialist by Arena Multimedia.  Was one of the two candidates who qualified the State Level Eligibility test in Journalism & Mass Communication in the year 2005 and switched to the education sector. Taught for 3 years in Shri Shikshayatan College JMC dept (since its inception) as Full time Lecturer. Delivered lectures in both the honours and general programme of Journalism & Mass Communication. Was an examiner, paper setter and reviewer under the University of Calcutta during that time. Moved to A.J. Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia to teach M.A. students and pursue research. Coordinator of International Seminars, conferences and workshops with foreign journalists (from various African countries and SAARC nations) in  collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (Govt. of India) and the department of Convergent journalism while working as Asst. Professor in A.J. Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia. Was associated with a German project (Deutsche Welle) as a faculty at SOJNMS (IGNOU) and worked as Adjunct faculty at National Institute of Mass Communication (under PTU), New Delhi

Tutoring Approach

The student is taught based on his/her capability and to meet the required level. Preparation of notes both through online resource/materials, books and journals. More emphasis on Hands on training. If any student is unable to grasp the subject, extra classes are provided for which no remuneration is asked for. Support to student about their time management and way of studying. Always take feedback from student about teaching method. Weekly review student about the progress. Update student about anything new that imight be coming. Organize test in a regular interval to get the real capability of student.

My teaching method is simple. I follow the textbook but cite examples that are easy to understand and make it memorable for the student to remember. I primarily am comfortable with students in class 11-12 and College level students. However I am also open to teaching class 8,-10 students, but particular subjects.

I do not have any teaching experience as of now. I will plan my lessons to make fundamentals clear and distinct and building the lessons from beginning by suitable example and exercises. I believe once the foundation is strong, the student would found the advanced topics easier to grab and excel.

My approach will depend on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student’s understanding and technique.
