I follow the rule of LSRW (Listening, speaking, reading and writing). A visiual presentation of what a student is learning is very important, so prefer videos and audios. A ppt representation leaves a mark on the student for whatever we see has a long lasting effect on our brain and if it is combined with audio at the background it will be an add-on. Periodical tests certainly but they necessarily not be a written test. I take test to see how well a student has grasped in the tutoring sessions. Some games during classes will leave the monotony aside and will provoke the interest of the child in the subject.
