1.My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. 2.My approach varies depending on the studentâs needs and learning style. However, my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. 3.I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the studentâs understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.

My approach is to simplify things and break them down. I discourage memorisation of any kind, and focus on a holistic understanding of the topic. I hope to bring my research skillset by focussing on asking questions before learning to solve them. This would take different amounts of time for different students, and I am willing to spend that time.

Tutoring Approach

Biology is a very theoretical subject. Long lectures of it can become boring. So while planing my lessons I try including few videos in my lecture which not only make lectures interesting but also help the student in better understanding and retention. My every session is divided into 3 main parts: recap of previous session, forward teaching of new concept and finally 4/5 questions on the topic taught. This helps the student not only in getting conceptual clarity but also in the application of that concept. I also do regular testing which help student with long term retention and mastering presentation skills.
