My approach will depend on the student�s needs and learning style. However my teaching is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student�s understanding and technique.

Since high school, I have been asked by my peers and juniors to advise and mentor them in academic matters, owing to my relative success. Though reluctant at first, once I started doing this, I was intrigued by the amount of insight and clarity this lent to my own understanding of the subject. I slowly developed a sense that allows me to perceive and even anticipate where a student might get stuck. Another reason why I enjoy teaching is that I have an almost academic interest in the manner in which pedagogy directs the content of a subject. For example, the "Euclid's Elements" paradigm of teaching mathematics will give rise to a different kind of mathematician than, say, the "new math" curriculum of the 60's. Apart from teaching subject matter, I have also done considerable research in problem solving heuristics, techniques for studying effectively, exam temperament, and study skills in general.
