Gmat,gre,sat - all tests your analytical and reasoning skills. GRE is for masters,PhD. Gmat is mostly for management/pg degrees. Sat is for undergraduate. The level of difficulty in terms of questions varies in all 3 exams. Gre and sat reading passages are lengthy but gre passages are very difficult. Gre also asks short passages which too are difficult. Gmat sentence correction and critical reasoning questions are difficult.

Gmat/GRE tests your analytical and reasoning skills. Gmat is mostly for over seas management studies and Gre is for masters and PhD studies. IELTS (universally accepted),TOEFL (mainly for USA) are language tests which is primarily required along with Gmat,Gre. There are few management colleges in Canada,Ireland, Australia which are accepting only IELTS score-band 7.5.

Read a lot of different material

To prepare for GMAT you have two main sources: one is the OG (Original Guide) and then all the others.

Also to prepare for the test, first you need to build your basics and then practice the questions.

To build your basics you can use any good resource. You can even use your school math and grammar books. Even youtube have lot of good content for this, especially related to GMAT.

Now coming to the real practice, OG is the best resource. Do not be in a hurry to complete all the questions. Go slow, assess your mistakes and go back to build on the basics based on the mistakes.

Other than OG, Manhattan GMAT is a good supplement.
