The Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) Bhubaneswar has taken up initiatives to provide educational opportunities to every section of society. IGNOU has joined hands with the Directorate of Higher Education of Odisha to provide opportunities to all under graduate (UG) and post graduates (PG) students of government colleges and government abetted colleges.
This will help the (PG) and (UG) students to get themselves enrolled in six-month certificate programmes of IGNOU in their choice of area. It will act as a reagent for their career enhancement as said by IGNOU Bhubaneswar Regional Director Manoj Kumar Dash at a press conference.
A proposal has succumbed to SDI for Joint partnership in some of the certificate programmes of IGNOU. Regional Centre of IGNOU is in Bhubaneswar, which has started working with SDI (Skill Development Institute) under the Union Ministry of skill development.
Skill Development, General Manager, Bibhuti Panigrahi, IOCL, swore to join the new initiative with IGNOU in the courses of, Certificate of Communication and IT Skills (CCITSK), Certificate in Information Technology (CIT) and Certificate of Competency in Power Distribution (CPD).
According to Dash a similar proposal was also submitted to the General Manager of East Coast Railway for collaboration with IGNOU for application of a certificate programme for railway officials.
The regional centre is even planning to open up study centres in all circle jails and district jails of Odisha and this plan will be supported by the Odisha Directorate of Prisons.
To all SC and ST students in certificate, PG Diploma, Bachelor Programmes, Diploma and PG certificate; IGNOU is offering free education in the July 2018 session. The last date to take admission for six-month programmes is June 30, 2018, and for other programmes, it is July 15, 2018.
