JEE is not easy to crack. Candidates have to be very apt in mathematics as the given problems are quite complex. The role of a math tutor cannot be underestimated. The teacher has to understand where the student is getting stuck and work on that specific area. JEE will open a wide area of higher education for the students that can make them enable to start a fantastic career. It is crucial to pass the examination to progress further.
Let’s see how a math tutor can help students to crack JEE in India:
Any random book won’t help in passing Joint Entrance Examination. One must practice sums by following the correct book. It lowers the efforts of the students as they don’t have to go through any ordinary book for understanding a math concept. As a math tutor, help your students select the right book to simplify the process of learning. It augments the chance of doing better in the exam.
Suggesting few best math books for the candidates:
1. IIT Maths – by M.L Khanna
2. NCERT maths textbook (XI and XII)
3. A problem Book in mathematical Analysis – by G.N Berman
4. High School Mathematics – by Hall and Knight
5. A textbook of Algebra- by SK Goyal
6. Arihant Algebra
1. Plane Trigonometry – by S.L. Loney
2. Trigonometry for JEE Main & Advanced – by Amit M Agarwal
1. Functions & Graphs for IIT JEE – by Vinay Kumar
2. Play with Graphs – by SK Goyal
1. Arihant Differential Calculus
2. A Textbook of Integral Calculus for JEE Main & Advanced (Arihant)
3. A Das Gupta’s Differential Calculus
1. SK Goyal’s A textbook of Coordinate Geometry (JEE Main and Advanced)
2. S L Loney’s The Elements of Coordinate geometry
In any education and exam, time management is crucial as we have limited time. Time plays a big role in achieving good score in JEE. A student has to solve maximum number of problems in just 1 hour 20 minutes. As a math tutor, you must teach them to read the question paper, do the easy sums first, and the go for the tough ones, and revise the entire paper within the given time limit. A minute mistake can deduct marks.
Solving previous years’ maths question papers is one of the best ways to master in mathematical problems that are going to come in JEE maths exam. Also, a private math tutor should create mock question papers just like the ones that are distributed to the students during the actual examination. Take as many mock tests as you can so that the students get used to giving exams. It will make them fearless and they will be calm during the final JEE exam.
As per experts’ suggestion, students must solve at least 3 sets of math question papers daily to understand the patter of question papers properly. Practice will make the students perfect. So, you must convince students to sit for mock exam every week.
No matter how much a student has practiced, it is normal to get nervous at the day of actual examination. In fact, the candidates remain excited on the exam day and try to solve all the problems in a hurry. Though this approach is okay yet the students must not hurry too much. Excessive excitement can result in mishap. A student may give wrong answer.
Hence, it is vital to stay calm and focused and start solving the math paper from easy, then medium, and finally difficult problems. Study the question paper with utmost care. Then, sort out the easiest questions. Solve them first. Do correct numbering. Then, go for slightly harder ones and solve them. At last, work on the trickiest questions. It will help the students to complete all the answers on time. Revise repeatedly. If a question is not solved and there is still time after finishing the other problems, try to attempt that one.
A student must try and solve as many questions as possible within a short period. Do not write any silly things on the answer paper. Do not try to copy from other sources. Avoid negative marking.
