In large scale digital systems, it is required to carry only one signal at a time at its output from different signals at its input, which can be analog signal or digital signal. A device that allows signal that we wish to pass through this common line is known as multiplxer. Multiplexer performs the function of selecting the input on any one of 'n' input lines and feeding this input to one output line.it is a combinatinal logic circuit and also known as data selector.
